Good video. Good idea to hold drain plug in with ratchet extension to stop oil from coming out so fast. U saved me from getting oil on my new concrete driveway.

What a stupid drain plug design. I'm thinking about getting a 2.7 Ecoboost F-150 XLT Supercab this year and I was curious how difficult the oil change was. I'm disappointed. It's also sad to see Ford using a plastic oil pan. I mean how cheap can you be Ford?

Yes, the hardest part of an oil change is removing/reinstalling the 'cloth' skid plate or should I say oil absorbing mat Ford so cleverly included cause every 2.7 ecoboost plastic oil pan leaks! There's lots of stories of frustrated owners having them replaced. The trick is to let the silicone dry thoroughly before adding any oil. I for one like the design of the oil drain plug 👍but wonder how long it'll last. I also empty my JLT catch can at every oil change.

HI...I just had my oil changed in my 2018 F150 Eco 2.7L with 39,000 mies on it. Ever since, my average mpg has dropped from 19 to 15 mpg in the same driving conditions. Any idea why this would happen. He used Valvoline Full Synthetic Oil.

There's no reason just an oil change would do that. If you took it to a dealer did they update your computer or reset your battery? Any other changes?

Never pre-oil. The risk of introducing particles into the system is waaay more harmful than a moment without oil pressure, which is of zero harm whatsoever

@@Resistculturaldecline how does pouring some new oil into the canister introduce particles more than pouring oil into the engine would? That doesn't make sense.
@Resistculturaldecline

@@darklight4815 engine oil new from the bottle isn't necessarily filtered to say, 25 microns like your engine filter will do. The bigger risk is getting a piece of the bottle lid seal gasket poured in when filling. That's not rare. When the filter is filled down the center, that oil gets push straight to the crank bearings without being filtered. You don't want a sliver or particle of anything getting to crank bearings that may only have a clearance of .001". You most definitely want that oil supply to be filtered. Weigh that things against the fact that there's no chance of 2sec of no oil pressure hurting anything. There's 20,30,40 weight oil on the parts, and the pump will fill that filter almost instantly. Two stroke engines can run for thousands of hours under full throttle, max rpm, high heat, with only 1 part of thin oil for every 50 parts of fuel, almost pure fuel and it only gets a mist of that. Thicker, undiluted car engine oil sitting on parts with no oil pressure, at idle speed for 2 or 3 seconds poses zero risk. Think of all the overkill recommendations a car maker suggest to maximize car lifespan. If there was a shred of benefit to prefilling, you can be they'd say so.
