Even if he got to the football, what would the Carolina offense have done?Another 3-and-out?Only way the Panthers would have won is if the defense got a big turnover, and turned it into a pick six, or got in great field position.

I would chalk Manning's pick and "fumble" to great defensive plays/ play calls.. Carolina dropped a D lineman into coverage.. It was a one handed pick.. An athletic play by a 300 lb lineman.. Regarding the "fumble" the ball was actually stripped.. No QB could have held on to that football.. Again it was tremendous defensive play.. And in defense of Cam no QB could have made enough plays to win a game under that kind of pressure.. Oh and this one has been driving me nuts.. If you watch that pass to Cotchery with Von Miller defending it looks like Miller broke it up at the last moment.. Watch it closely.. I don't think it was a drop.. Once again a great defensive play..

In time historians will give Manning more credit for this SB win.. Right now everyone is saying he was carried by a great defense but let me make a few points here.. He came off the bench against the Chargers in the last game of the year with home field advantage on the line after having been on IR for what 7 weeks ? .. I know he can't carry a team anymore but he's still Peyton Manning.. He took away the Chargers blitz.. You can't blitz Manning.. He made passes.. He made the right reads and called the right plays.. When he jogged onto the field the crowd went wild.. He motivated and led the team to a victory.. We snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.. If we lose that game we have to go through Foxboro to get to the SB .. Not impossible but way way tougher.. Now that I'm warmed up lets keep going.. Against the Steelers there were a lot of dropped balls but when it counted and when it was needed Manning led the O to points to win the game.. The Steelers were driving and the D came up with a huge strip/ recovery.. Manning and the O did what they were supposed to do in the playoffs.. He led the team down the field on a long/ time comsuming drive with a balanced attack of running/ passing which culminated in a CJ Anderson rushing touchdown.. If you don't turn turnovers into points you don't win .. And THEN we converted a 2 point attempt ensuring that the Steelers could only tie the game.. Manning made the 2 point conversions look routine.. 2 point conversions 'aint easy.. They succeed what less than 50% of the time ? .. A 1/3rd of the time maybe ? OK.. We're almost there.. New England and the AFC Championship.. How 'bout that rushing first down ? .. Not a bad play from a 39 year playing his last season while battling injuries.. My first thought was Elway and the helicopter play.. It's not on the stat sheet but that stuff is what a leader does.. It motivates the team.. He led the team to 20 pts.. 14 of which was Manning throws.. The 2nd of which was after the Von Miller pick.. A beautiful toss for 6 in the corner of the endzone.. AGAIN he doesn't carry the team but comes up big when needed then the D protects the lead.. OK .. The SB.. He had a better completion % than the league MVP .. His one pick was a great defensive play and he got stripped.. Really no unforced errors on his part.. He led the O to 17 points which was enough to win game AND converted another 2 point play to put the game out of reach..
