The FIDE World Chess Championship 2021 took place from November 24th to December 16th, 2021, alongside the Dubai World Expo in the United Arab Emirates. This championship match was held between the reigning world champion, Magnus Carlsen, and his challenger, Jan Nepomniachtchi, the winner of the 2020-2021 Candidates Tournament.
In the end, Carlsen managed to retain his title with 4 wins and 7 draws. This victory marked Carlsen's second consecutive world championship title after Mikhail Botvinnik in the history of chess. Additionally, with a win in the sixth game, Carlsen set the record for the longest game in the history of World Chess Championship, lasting nearly 8 hours. Carlsen, with two wins with the black pieces and two wins with the white pieces, secured his championship title in the final three rounds of the competition. Here, I invite you to watch their games.
