I just wanted you to know that I made your "Everyday Salsa," and it is a staple in our home now. It is so easy to make, we always have the ingredients, but it is hard to keep track of when I need to make more. I am constantly hearing the echoes of my family throughout the day: "Is there any Salsa left" "where did all the salsa go" and "Mom, you need to make more salsa." As I said, we don't know how we ever lived without it.

I had to check because I always thought serranos are hotter than jalapeno and yes, they are. I much prefer the jalapeno flavor. To me serranos are just hot, no flavor. But that's just me. Just in case someone who isn't familiar with chilies wants to know.

Mrs. Rachel, your mom most likely did not recommend using a medal spoon to insert inside the glass jar because if you drop the medal spoon to hard or in time (base on the thickness of the glass jar) it can break. Rachael I think the metal spoon probably refers to the "olden" days (😂) when some were made of aluminum or silver, which would definitely alter the flavor. Stainless steel will NOT affect the taste at all. Thank you for sharing your wonderful recipes and making us feel at home in your kitchen.

🤷♀️FACT...You don't use metal of any thing/any type in a glass Mason jar of any size, especially when either contents or the jar is hot, it has the potential to cause microscopic damage/fractures that comprises the glass and under pressure from steam or canning processes will cause the glass to fracture and burst under conditions.👍🏻

@@chucksracingchannel377 Just add vinegar or sugar to tone down heat from peppers, a tablespoon at a time to taste. Serrano peppers are actually up to 8 times hotter than jalapeno peppers on the scale. I usually add 1or 2 jalapenos. If wanting the heat from a serrano, just add one.

Aluminum, copper and non-enamaled cast iron are all reactive to acidic foods. The acid causes the metal to leach out of the cooking vessel or utensil and contaminates the food. And, it wears out the cookware to boot. Stainless steel, ceramic-coated cast iron, glazed ceramic, tin- lined copper and glass are safe. Stainless steel is a lousy heat conductor but I find them to be exceptional when they have a nice, thick copper outer base.

@@rachelcookswithlove What is your opinion on onions? I was told Mexicans always use white onion. Are yellow onions or sweet onions ok for salsa? I like the flavor of yellow onions when they are cooked but white or sweet when raw. What's your opinion?

I saw the amount of chili's you put in the salsa for Pazole is it extremely hot? Also it looks like your blender really blends well. Can you say what blender you use? That salsa looks like it could be so good on tacos. Love all your wonderful videos.

Mrs Rachel I love your videos ! I had a question. My husband is a heart patient and isn't supposed to have the oil. In your everyday salsa will omitting the vegetable oil effect your recipe?

I’ve watched a few of your vids now. I love your camera presence. Very calming. Almost nurturing… in a remote kind of way. I’ve been looking for my “go to” salsa. I haven’t found it yet. As we say in baseball… “Batter Up!”

The acid in the salsa can corrode some metal spoons. I Googled it, lol

Hi Camille, we don't out a metal spoon because it doesn't do well with the acid in tomatoes, I knew that lol!! One reason I don't make tomato sauces in my copper pots unless they are lined, thanks for the comment my friend.❤

I never new there was a salsa for posole. I only use jalapeños for our salsa. We use garlic salt and tomato sauce for our salsa and water. We don't cook it. We cook the jalapeños for sure then freeze them until we need to make salsa. We have to have salsa all the time. I just cooked and pack 17lbs of jalapeños and put them in the freezer. Next week I'll buy and roast and pack long green Chile. I already have my red dry chile for enchiladas, tamales, chile Colorado with meat and potatoes.

- ANSWER - Whether it’s just an old wives tale or not, there are many folks who say there is scientific truth to the fact that a *metal spoon* will impart a *metallic taste to the sauce* due to the acidity in the tomatoes coming into contact with it. - hope this helps everyone -
