So great to see that you are back in the groove Harald. Our cousin is looking forward to your camp in February. She has double knee replacements and lots of alignment questions. I told her nobody on the planet knows more about this than you do and to call in advance to discuss whether to have you modify and align her Lange 110’s, or get her in a new boot for camp. Thanks for the new video! Dennis & Cheryl at Lost Trail.

Well done mr H. Good to see you on the mend. A few years ago my young son Ben, suffered a slipped epiphesis,which resulted in a large screw pin being inserted in each hip, fairly traumatic for a 12 year old.he also made a fairly rapid recovery, however he still missed a season. To see him on the hill now it's hard to believe he was pretty much crippled at one point. He has been my inspiration since. We live in bonny Scotland so are still awaiting the snows arrival. Good luck with your season.

As physiotherapist it´s so inspiring to see this video! Then you can motivate others to keep up favorite sports activities, even if you have a hip replacement.

Thanks Mats, In the last ten years, 2 joint replacements, one achilles tendon rupture, and a serious left knee injury, yet if you keep training the body can overcome.

Short recovery time! Must have had it anterior. When I had mine done posterior, 2 years ago on August 28, 2017, the doc told me to wait until after New Years, but reminded me that skiing can be a violent sport, so I steer clear of little kids and beginners.
@skiwhh

Yes anterior is he only one I would do based on my research. I am still skiing at only the 70% level, I don't want to load up the hip until the bone has totally grown into the prosthetic.

I wish that I had done a little more research...next one, if needed will be anterior, but it's all good now. Just need some snow up here in the PNW.

Really impressive range of motion for a prosthetic hip specially this soon after surgery congratulations! Also I'm curious; would you be able to share the model and flex of your new boot? I can see It's a Nordica why you changed?
@skiwhh
4 жыл бұрын
I switched mostly due to fit. The Head R2 is a great boot but for me it has too much volume above the foot. After a season on them I go sick of padding the tongue and lifting the soles. The Nordic fits perfectly, I was out the door with less than one hour of fitting. The Head R2 boot took 6 hours a side. I am skiing the Dobie Pro 140 flex. My foot is just right in it, firm and no slop. Much easier to get on and off as well.

When was your hip surgery? Last time I saw you walking was when Dianna was working on my boots at the shop beginning of last season. I thought you were limping a bit then.

I am still building strength which is less them I'm used to starting the season. I know I am focused on my left foot turns going to the right, (hip is the left side) so I've neglected the right foot turns, but that is easy to fix.

On some days I don't know it's there, but my muscles are still weaker than usual. So I'm only cranking my skiing up to 70%. By February I'll be in full swing.

Slick turns H! Will Head Supershape iMagnums fit the bill for your ski type recommendations ?
@skiwhh
4 жыл бұрын
Yes we coach many skiers who ski well on the Magnum. We prefer the Super Shape Speed for front side skiing, just because it is narrower and quicker from edge to edge in short turns.

Harald Harb - 2 trips on the iMagnums and really enjoying them. Trying to get the tipping going from edge to edge instead of the 80’s skid! They do corner like on rails tho!
