Thank you for also telling us when something went wrong/not perfectly. If everyone would have this kind of mindset a lot of mistakes wouldn't be done again and again or at least people wouldn't need to feel ashamed of making a mistake. It happens to all of us, so why not just being honest? Thank you. And of course you do a terrific job and I can't wait to see now it's going on :)

That made me feel better. I'm not the only one who has to pull things apart more than once. Getting my head around this 3D printer. It's not nearly as easy as I thought it might be. On my 4th attempt at printing a rather ambitious part that will hold all three of the fins that I have also printed in place. When you are 7 hours in and it fails on your 3rd attempt you learn where your threshold for frustration is. Hoping to be able to have the Water rocket ready for launch by next weekend.

Bummer! I hate it when it does that. I try to print one component at a time for that reason so that if it fails, you don't have to re-print everything else. 3D printing does take a bit of time to learn, especially when designing components for printing so they stick well to the bed. Also appropriate use of support structures is important.

Just wow. Great Video, brilliant valve Design, genious idea with the legos and a beautiful end result. Im hyped for the start video. I think you have to lend this laser cameras from NASA to film it ^^

Great job as always! It's funny to see how you use Lego pieces to sketch and prototype the system. Everything is very well explained and is good to see how you solve all the issues as you find them in the final assembly. Funny also to see your father in such a good mood. Congratulations and keep going!

How can it fly if it's so heavy? Or is it just your setup for filling / "fueling" the rocket?
@AirCommandRockets

That's correct this thing stays on the ground. It is a part of the launcher.

I have a question you can make rockets from PVC pipes instead of bottles ?
@AirCommandRockets
6 жыл бұрын
Yes it is possible, but PVC rockets tend to be heavier when holding the same amount of pressure compared to what a PET bottle can hold. As a result you tend to get lower altitude. Also and probably more importantly is that when PVC is over pressurised and fails, it shatters into shards which can be very dangerous.

@@AirCommandRockets thanks, I wanted to try pvc because fiberglass is expensive, but first I will try with bottles first from scratch and then go forward

@@AirCommandRockets how is it possible that pvc hold only the same pressure as pet if they have 3mm walls?
@yottaplex2239

compared to the 0.1mm walls of pet
@AirCommandRockets

Different materials have different strengths. 0.1mm wall PVC is not as strong as 0.1mm wall PET. You also need to consider the diameter of the pressure chamber not just wall thickness. A pressure chamber with 10mm diameter and 3mm wall thickness will hold more pressure than a 100mm diameter and 3mm wall.
