Regarding the waterproof door: if you leave it closed while away from the van, leave the bottom wedged open in case it rains. If it is left without that gap rain could fill up between it and the main door and then flow into the van through the main door’s lower vent. From a fellow BT owner.

Great stuff guy's! On the dust issue, what some do is to install a filtered pressurization system, done properly with a sizable car air filter and a fan that delivers good volume they work a treat!
@nowhereboundtouring
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, I have considered doing something like you have suggested. We have addressed a few of the dust leaks, so we will see how it goes for now. Bushtracker is adamant that we should not need one, as the van should not leak dust. We will see. Cheers, karl
@Peter57808
2 жыл бұрын
@@nowhereboundtouring Cheers Karl, Sorry but I've seen dust come through the threads of nuts and bolts. The only thing that keeps it out is positive air pressure. The old school mechanical primary air separator followed by a really good filter works a treat. I have a friend who tows a trailer to the lake Gairdner speed trials every year and uses this system. He arrives with a clean trailer while everyone else spends a day cleaning the dust out of everything. All you need to keep the van dust free is have the inside supplied by dust free air at above the outside air pressure. It will need a fan that can deliver copious amounts of air but it will be powered by your truck and should not be a problem.

Another great video guys. We've got similar windows on our truck and even though the height of the module off the ground prevents people getting an easy look inside, the tip to invert the blinds/screens is a good one for a little extra privacy. Next 'five minute' job to add to the refurbishment list before we hit the road again :-) Hope quarantine is going okay and you are back on the move again very soon. Safe travels, A&J

Totally agree on the hatch we have the same. And the water tank levels we take with a grain of salt. The shower hatch is also a problem with ours it cracks when in severe heat in several spots . Agreed with the fans it really does show the dust lol. Love the draws under the bed. With the door we also installed 10.5 mm wide window seal from Bunnings around were the door closes . We found that solved the midges coming in past the door seals and slows dust ingress. Love the video great to see how you like and dislike things on the van. A honest review. One question was this filmed at Crooked Straight Campground (Headings Murthos Forest Reserve). If so its a beautiful spot. 😀 great work guys.

Thats why we like to share our experiences so that people don't have to waste their money on poor quality products if they can help it. Great set up and envious of your tow vehicle and set up, we have returned from a full time 15 month trip on the road and most people we spoke to, like us struggled with weights, GCM particularly, would be curious to know what your GCM is with your Truck and Bushtracker. We upgraded our vehicle from Ford Ranger with a 6000kg GCM to a 78 series Landcruiser to give us 6800kg during our trip which was a relief to watching our weight. Cheers Guys Anton
@nowhereboundtouring
2 жыл бұрын
Gday Anton, Our GCM is 11t. Truck GVM is 7.5t, and van ATM is 4.5t. We are around the 11t when full of water. We do need to monitor how much water we have when we have the van on, as a we have a total water capacity of 840l, so if we fill the truck up as well it can put us over the GCM. Keep in mind that we are full time travellers, so we tend to have more stuff than just someone on the road for a year or so. Cheers, karl

Perhaps add a Scotty to your truck which charges into a Lithium battery bank on truck which you can then just plug the truck into van as shore power to top up van batteries & no generator, Bruce from Safiery will help you out.
