Watched his videos while in optometry school. His videos really simplified concepts for easy understanding. Thanks Tim Root, such an inspiration! Trying to make videos like yours but on a budget LOL

I know nothing about ophthalmology and found your video by mistake.....I have to say very very cool stuff!
I do exactly what is portrayed in this video - take the paper given with no difficulty then hold it close to read. This is short sighted vision. Close up vision is normal so reading is easy without spectacles, Long distance is blurred, so spectacles are needed.

Here is another trick. (I applied this to elderly woman who had degradation of vision & was worried). Due to cataracts (or the optics), or due to retina? Set up following: 5mw green DPSS laser pointer shooting point-blank at 1/2 inch thick block of undyed wax. Patient views this from distance (3 feet to 10 feet) & describe what is seen. If patient describes "grainy" appearance, retina is good! The interference of the laser light does not require a working optical system to form a pattern in the retina. Even a patient with clouded lens or -100 diopter nearsightedness will see the pattern.

08:45 He says that we habituate and the signal is no longer there. Actually habituation is the "adaptation" of the CNS as the signal is still active. And adaptation of the receptor (no signal forwarded to secondary somatosensory neuron) is called "Adaptation". This is just something that (I think) I remember from lectures, but not 100% sure :D

I'm not sure how I ended up on this video but I am sure glad I did.. I would love to talk to you about my eyes.. I have had five double eye surgery in under a year and a half and my brain still won't accept what's happened I've gone to the same doctor and I think it's time to maybe talk to somebody else but it sounds like you might have a couple tricks up your sleeve to see if there's something else going on then just what my doctor is saying.. I'm not saying I don't adore him or respect him all I'm saying is my opinion of what is happening with my eyes is different from his and I can't really get him to listen to me.. he labeled it abnormal head placement or strabismus..niq I know that something changed drastically that year I cracked my head so hard thar my right eye went straight up into my head LOL my case was studied by some of the top eye specialists from around the world recently and everybody just took their heads not knowing what to do and chalked it up to... I was just one out of a gazillion people that this would happen to.. Perfect! My whole life has been put on hold because I can't get my driver's license renewed I can't get my dream job that is waiting for me as a peer support advocate after battling a drug addiction for more than 20 years.. I'm finally walking on the other side of it and would like to have my eyes back. ❤
