If you listen to their segment about Bit-o-Honey, they didn't *actually say* that it was discontinued, they just worded their actual statement (that it's not near as popular these days as it used to be) so that it *sounded like* they were saying it was discontinued. Betcha' anything they did that on purpose to get comments like yours...

You need the change the title if you include foods that weren’t invented in the 1940’s. Like Jello 1-2-3. You should just say in the title “Discontinued foods we all miss.”

Yep, came in 1969. Quite a ways from the 1940s.
@DaZebraffe

They can't call it that, either, because Bit-o-Honey is still around today. They used deceptive wording so that what was actually said, was that it's not near as popular any more, but it deliberately *sounded like* the candy was discontinued.
@DaZebraffe

Actually, after watching through the video, almost none of them are actually discontinued. Apart from a single-digit number of exceptions, it's all stuff that's still around, just far less popular; still around, but under a different name; or still around and still popular, but with an altered formula.

@@DaZebraffe The point is that most of those things listed weren't around in the 40s 😀Right now I'm questioning every word of the title. Were there even 20 "snacks" (drinks aren't snacks, are they) and does anyone actually want them back? 😀

?????? How is it that some of these were enjoyed in the 1940s, when they werent invented until later???? Also I drank fizzies in the 1960s, they were pulled because they said the cyclamates in them caused cancer. It was a huge deal.

Sadly, when you do find some of these candies today, they're nothing like they were years ago what with their use of cheaper ingredients or the trend toward "healthier" products that's made many companies change their product formulas.

This video is all over the place. Snacks from the 40s means from the 40s. Yet, your second item is from the 60s and then you mention Fizzies from the 40s followed immediately by saying it was invented in the 50s. It shouldn't be very hard to keep track of a single decade right?

I love this kinda stuff. Opens up an opportunity to once again complain about 5th Avenue bars. They took the almonds off and never changed its name or made any effort to acknowledge the missing almonds. To me it became a baby step-brother to a Butterfinger. I used to like them and then one day I was at work and bought one from the vending machine, sans almonds. Been complaining about it ever since! LOL ahhh, sometimes it just feels good to grouch and grimace about things that don't matter and no one cares about. : )

Squirrel nut candies i saw in a store recently. Planters cheese balls didn't come out in the 40s. Theyre salty and other brands of cheese balls are better than them. Pompoms are still around as Junior mint brand caramels. I remember turkish taffy which the banana and strawberry was artificially flavored. I liked the vanilla and chocolate.
