I’ve never met an American who doesn’t have a washer and dryer. Even people who live in apartments, a lot of times have their own washers and dryer

I've been in some really small apartments, that was maybe 200sqft and didn't have a washer and dryer. It cost $50 a week utilities included back in 2006.

Yeah I've lived in multiple homes and apartments, only a few has washing machines, I live in a low income area devastated by red lining, not only can we not afford them, the areas are so filthy that many times, snakes, rats, opposums, and roaches ends up in them.

I have never seen a standing/livable American home that was built prior to the 1970s. The way homes are built in the US gives them a life of around 40 years before it is cheaper to tear down and rebuild rather than keep up with repair costs.

Why they can’t buy a dryer and a washer you only need a water connection and sewage connection. Nothing else I don’t think it would be expensive to cut a hole in that wood and bring a flexible or normal pipe there.

Actually a lot of people do but there’s some items you can’t wash in a home washer like blankets comforters and in the summer time when you don’t want to heat up your house with the dryer you use the dryer at the laundromat

The reason why Americans need retrofitted washers and dryers because they need to be hooked in hot and cold water. And their dryers need to be connected in an exhaust. Most people in other countries really just hang their clothes

I hate when people from other countries ask dumb questions like what about you , and the things is that they always say like why doesn't Americans have this or that , i'm sure its a laundromat in other countries either rich or poor

Why do they need to retrofit the house? Here, the dryers come with a flexible tube that goes out of the window

How would it cost that much it’s a cold water hookup and a plug, it’s like an hours work max.

No way they get charged that much for just a couple of feet of pipe, and a bucket of concrete paying thousands of dollars is just crazy.

Apartment complexes tend to have stricter codes than houses when adding plumbing and electric. Depending on the apartments, they might not even have space available right now for hookups, so it probably includes building or moving walls to make the space.

10k for a simple hole in the wall to vent the dryer and a hose to your bathroom ? A washer can be atached yo your sink or shower a d the runoff can just lay down in theshower as well hell even the sink wouldnwork for the run off. And dont tell me its impossible as i have done this for the last 10 years xd. If wosrt comes to pass and you dont want a hole in your wall just hang the shute out of the window or get a wash/dry combo so it all goes down the drain. And here you are done for a max of 800 euro thranslate that to dollars as i have no idea what the exchange is doing today

I'd be checking those quarters for silver, a decent silver quarter is worth about $15-$20 on any given day. Happy hunting.
