I'm a wedding photographer with my own business. I read tons of books, been into a lot of leadership seminars, have a mentor I work with closely but finding this channel has been so valuable for me. I got into a phase where I want something more because after reading books and getting more knowledge from different sources, I found that everything was so repetitive. I'm talking that most books and leadership seminars talk about the same thing over and over and that is not bad but I was hitting a ceiling. A friend of mine share one of your videos a few months ago. I'm very selective into what I listen to, meaning I don't subscribe and listen to every podcasts or YT channels. Like Pat said in one his videos, "everyone calls themselves an entrepreneur but only a few teach the how-to's" I have to say that I only listen to your youtube channel (part of the notifications squat) and I made it part of my mourning routine to listen to at least one of your videos. Your channel has made an impact in my life as a business man and father. I appreciate all you guys do and I know is a lot of work. Not sure if Mario is the social media or camera guy (since Pat mentions him often) but tell Mario and all the media team who works BTS, Thank you so Much! I know what is is that most of the time you don't get the credit for what you guys do. Thank you so Much Valuetainment!

Another great video Pat! What I really like about this one is that you give us complete formula with all the options. I can start analyzing people's motivations (as well as my own) based on all possibilities. I've heard many times that "different people have different motivation" but nobody really explained that as thoroughly as you did. I believe this video will have great impact on how I perceive people around me, especially certain individuals that I didn't understand before. Sincere thank you for that!

One of your best videos because it's so relatable. We've all met people that fit these categories. Sometimes you're sure you can motivate someone but are left disappointed afterwards when what you offered or said just didn't motivate them, you can be left thinking 'What's their problem' but in reality you just need to start speaking their language, understand them better and adapt what you give them. By nature, we're going to try and motivate people by what would motivate us but we need to remember everyone's got different driving forces.

This is so true. And you need to remember that peoples motivations change over time. They may start wanting power....get a family and change to wanting security and then later in life begin to look for more fulfillment and go more to history/serving others and change.

I believe the only way to increase the percieved value of any brand is to do competitive advantage advertising or provide a higher class lifestyle image related to the product which is related to your target market or brand image goal. Usually its always good to keep a very quality perceived image from the beginning as it is often hard to recover from low quality/cheap brand imaging ex. Kia etc...

David, I was the kinda guy who was motivated by deadlines and I would get the work done before the deadline. But then the deadlines were sooner than ever for the same task, a week or 2 were removed for the project. Over a long period of time, I just couldn't handle it - I was no longer motivated by deadlines, they marked something next to impossible for me. I started missing them and eventually I just quit. I was offered to stay and do different things, but I couldn't. I'm not sure if I worded this very well, but what I'm trying to say, is that you can burn out your deadline people by setting the deadlines closer to them time after time. Just my $0.02. Love the content regardless, as always!

Patrick one of the skills that I was blessed with and I've been very very excellent at since I was a little kid is the art of bartering so I started feeling like I was a master at it until someone who I learned the majority of everything that I know about from and has been a great mentor in my life said to me how many languages do you speak? I had never thought about it that way how much ground I'm not covering because I'm not bartering with people from other ethnicities and speaking their languages... EXCELLENT video Patrick!!! Thank you so much for this👍💯✊💯💪💯👌

To add to this subject u might want to read a book called "dealing with people you can't stand" . It essentially breaks people down to 4 categories. 1: The perfectionist ,who needs to get it right. 2) the control freak who wants to get it done 3) the get along / people pleaser 4) The attention seeker ,looking for approval. All these 4 categories have their own categories within, like an onion.

First off, Pat, are you ok? In the last few weeks you seem to be down a few cylinders. Just an observation. A past manager of mine from when I was working 110hours a week once said "remember you can't help out anyone if you don't take care of number 1 and you must be your own number 1." Now video analysis. Thank you so much for this video. I've been noticing lately that I'm not great at directly motivating people. I just never realised how much of my ability to bring out the best in people is immediately derived from my moral authority (I have a tendency of dominating every kitchen I enter.) However when I need to directly motivate a single person I'm really bad at it. In fact the few times I've succeeded I feel like I just happened to say the right thing at the right time. I have a few books on my queue right now, but definitely seeking more books on leading and motivating others. I love how you have it broken into the 4 categories. I feel like those are going to be key concepts in building the company culture which I'm only now starting to put serious thought into. Finally, in the next few weeks I'll be speaking to the culinary class at my old High School (Burnsville Senior High School) and for once I really don't want to talk much about food, I really want to jump right into life advice and planting a seed in as many of their minds as possible. I feel like this video will go a long way towards helping me with that goal. Just a thought, would you be interested in joining me? I owe a lot to ISD 191 and I'd really like to make an impact.
