Okay I've change my mind after seeing a second video from this guy he shouldn't be working on cars no one should ever suck the fluid out of the brake caliper many reasons why number one all the wells are to get into the lines with create a bigger problem on bleeding the brakes II don't sandblast brake calipers unless they're being rebuilt which I doubt this guy does or has done for a living at a brake caliper Factory nothing you can't be done but it's a BMW I guarantee you the owner wanted new ones absolutely ridiculous

I bought some reman calipers from Advance and both seized after a week of being parked. I took one apart and there was absolutely no grease around the piston, the boots were some kind of hard plastic that would not stay in the groove around the piston and were too big to snuggly fit the piston itself. Unbelievable that they can legally sell junk that can kill someone.

I Seriously doubt it was Advance Part Problem it probably was you In experience Dip Wad who installed it it's your responsibility make sure fits and Functions Street Rookies with couple of tools Hardly any Knowledge not being tought by Master Mechanic what can go wrong here there's a lot to Brakes than pushing piston and dropping in Brake pads. .

@@klausschreyer7062 Master mechanic means jack shit if the guy ain't good. Workin on cars ain't rocket science, once you bleed the brakes and there's a good pedal you're good to go. You can't get a new caliper and intall it wrong, only goes on one way and you shouldn't have to do any type of work to it, it's out of the box and into the car and you're done, what he's describing is a crappy reman job...

@@sr70rr you are perfectly fine grinding off those rotor screws, those are just a result of the way we manufacture cars, i dont know anyone who actually puts those screws back in when replacing a rotor.

If your living in England make sure you put them back in or replace with a new one. If you have an accident and the insurance company investigates it and finds it missing. Your insurance is invalid.

There was a lot of extra unnecessary steps to have done. Dust caps off the bolts bolts out calliper off pads fall out pads replaced calliper put back in place bolts back on and your back on the road. The only extra step is to squeeze the piston back. If you did any more than that you’re wasting your customers money charging him for that time

This gets most of the old fluid out. Then fill the reservoir back up with fresh. No air should enter the system if done correctly

He pulled a manual gearbox out of a Porsche, had it stripped and cleaned because the old oil was 'thick and sticky' and wasnt letting the shifter return to center smoothly- as a first resort without even attempting to change the oil first and let that clean it up. Change it when the gearbox is warm, even if you give it a second oil change after a short time cost wise the customer is miles in front and gets the same results

I nearly had my pads seperate 3 out of 4 in the front. Had a warranty replacement but doesn't really make me feel much better. They were napa premium ceramic pads. I'll have to keep an eye on them.

I always just put a screw in the pipe or somthing to block it then when u reatach gravity forces it back though the caliper and rotor areas quicker when your pumping the brake pressure and air out the system

You only need to remove enough fluid from the reservoir to give space when you push back the piston and verify it’s at the max line when completed

It's 20 year old fluid. Suction it out and replace it with a newer, better product. The fluid is literally the cheapest thing of the entire job.

Seriously with newer cars and abs systems you should completely flush the brake fluid to protect the main abs pump unit that delivers the pressure to your wheels all calipers heat up n that fluid actually burns out at high temperatures hence why most cars have changed to dot4

BMW mechanic here, picturebook job so far 👍 but I also dont see the problem with the calipers... is the piston stuck or leaking? anyways, after sandblasting and some sanding you have a perfect base for some nice brake paint

I’m assuming you mean around the hub centre. I usually use a wire brush to clean off the rust and then if it was hard to come off I put a thin layer of antiseize around before putting on the new rotor.

This is how easy a brake job actually is. Just make sure to use new caliper slide bolts or clean and reuse the old ones (do a good job) so all your hard work is not wasted.

We have a blasting cabinet we ise to blast the brake carriers with. Makes the job so much better. I always lube the ears of the pads with copper abutment paste and sliders with their own slider lube. Have seen the friction material delaminate from the pad core. Happened to me on a brand new set of pads but i let the car sit too long while driving my daily.
