From someone who's been a freelancer, independent contractor, and small business owner, DO NOT get a business loan. Only borrow money to meet payroll for billable staff, or to acquire income producing assets (real estate). Don't borrow for inventory, or for expense items. BTW, being debt free doesn't make the bills go away, and 6 figure jobs don't eliminate money issues for most people.

Christian or not, being in debt is a horrible experience that steals our joy and right to enjoy Life as it was meant to
@diannebee

When you have debt it steals your freedom, time, joy and energy. AND the fact that you can’t give freely the way God wants us to give back to church (tithing) and to other people. It holds us back in life. BE FREE FROM CHAINS AND STAY AWAY FROM DEBT!!!! it doesn’t make you a better person being debt free or not just don’t do it! You are wasting your life just working away owing ppl money instead of living freely!!

@@kenyonbissett3512 thanks ! It’s just that I had a hard time paying off my debt, I had a lot, and every time I hear the word debt or hearing ppl talk about it as if it’s no big deal, I just get mad (at my past lol). It’s true, though, that the borrower is slave to the lender. We were not meant to live this life just owing people. We were meant to live with TRUE joy & debt is not joy. I don’t even own a home yet and having a future mortgage already gives me anxiety. Life REALLY IS too short to be living in debt. Life already has so many problems and we really shouldn’t make debt one of them. Debt is a choice for real!

Tithing is abolished in new testament. It's an old testament thing. New testament teaches giving cheerfully.
@diannebee

@@maverickcruise yup but I still tithe! You don’t have to tithe, do whatever you can, with your time, money or doing something kind for loved ones (like paying the single mother’s light bill for a year or buying a struggling coworker a used car, or donate a thousand bucks to the local pantry) it all depends on you & your gift of generosity... or keep it all to yourself but to me that’s kind of lame since we were born to serve and give and not just earn and keep. That’s a boring and dead spirit to me. But to each their own right? My BFF makes 6 figures and she shops like crazy and doesn’t donate but I don’t condemn her. It’s her life and her money. I was only talking about my own expectations.... and that debt is stupid lol

The best real estate hack that I'm aware of is to purchase a duplex for your primary residence, and use the rent payments from the other side to pay for most or all of your mortgage. Yes, you have a mortgage, but your housing expense will not be a burden to your monthly budget.

Best I’m aware of too, or some sort of ADU to offset mortgage.

Bro 💀 after watching this video I noticed I said “22” when I had my first heart issue. I must have had a brain fart because my wife corrected me… I was actually “26.” I must have had a stroke too and lost brain function. 😳

This may sound strange but as I've started to watch your videos I've noticed that my mindset has started to shift about the way that I use and think about money. I have watched different financial videos that have given me great wisdom, but none have caused my mind to shift as powerfully as yours have. Both you and your wife are so so blessed. As a fellow lover of Christ, I truly believe that God has given both you and your wife a special GRACE in the area of financial liberation and financial literacy which is something needed heavily in the kingdom. You may not even know it but you're spiritually touching people just from you being open with your journey, God is using ya'll to break and build and I know I didn't come across your videos on accident. Thank you so much Jereme and Grace please keep praying and letting God use you for his will no matter what the case may be. Stay blessed

Funny how it's the health scares that wake you up, and really, save your life. Just went through that myself(still going through it, actually). However, in my case, I was doing everything "right" financially and career wise, but I was doing it at the expense of my health and relationships. (Lack of relationships, more like.) That's the other side of it that you have to look at. Also, for me, once I started taking care of the things I was neglecting, my why became stronger. Once I'm through this season, I feel I will be all the better for it.

There are many things in life that could make us better Christians. Thankful for God's grace through life. I think being debt free makes a Christian's life more blessed in that you are not slave to a lender. But My spouse and I were so laser focused on being 100% debt free that I think it got in the way of us being good givers. I know many people who aren't great with money but they are such giving people. Yes, we are 34 years old- no debt, NO mortgage, and right now we really want to focus on being good givers so we can set a good example for our 3 boys.

What I learned after becoming a homeowner is even mortgage debt is a big hindrance. Most personal finance experts consider that "good debt" because you're building equity and the debt is secured by an asset, but man does it weigh on you. I'm $150,000 in debt if you count my mortgage, $0 in debt otherwise. It's a scary feeling to know you could lose your home you've invested so much in if you can't make that payment every month. I'm considering selling it and downsizing but it would be a real lifestyle adjustment. I'd have to move to a 1,000 square foot home versus the 2,000 I'm currently living in. Hard to get rid of enough stuff to make that move possible.

Sometimes, being in debt may may you more likely to compromise your personal morals at work to stay employable. When you are debt free, you are free to say no and not worry about a mortgage payment

God's people are to be the lenders not the borrowers. Above only and not beneath. The head, not the tail. We are to be good stewards and multiply what God entrust to us. Our God is rich and owns everything and owes no one anything. We are to be imitators of God as dear children.
