Right so:
This. Was. A LOT. Lol.
What in the world was I thinking? Yes the blocks are soft but the workout is REAL, and I’m allergic to exercise 😂💕.
All jokes aside though - this was an absolutely refreshing crush. I mean it’s TWO HUNDRED blocks of chalk, and EASY GRIP chalk at that. What a blessing to have the opportunity to experience such a MEGA MASS CRUSH and the opportunity to use this video to say a hearty thank you to everyone for supporting my craft. May this journey continue to be a positive and successful experience.
So here’s how the process went, just so you have an idea of what goes into prepping such a MEGA MASS CRUSH:
Step 1:
you set aside a budget and order chalk weeks in advance. I ordered this when I was still in Ghana. Easy Grip is an affordable chalk but try crushing 200 blocks and it’s still a small fortune. Ps, easy grip soft chalk usually comes broken so I had to take that into account.
Step 2: the chalk arrives and you have to unbox AND unwrap the chalk. I mean as much as I love Mass crushes the one thing I do not look forward to is UNWRAPPING the individual blocks. This took me around 3 hours because I was looking for whole blocks and putting aside the chunks for another chunk themed video. Oh and I did not do it alone. I asked someone to come over and help me LOL. UPJOE was like…nope… (to be fair he was working)
Step 3: Arrange the chalk in a sensible way for crushing and do a mini photoshoot to post before and after bts content. Oh boy, people seriously think running an Asmr account is all about crushing and reforming? WRONG. It’s arguably more about being a great editor, content creator, marketing mogul etc etc. Crushing and reforming is simple. So prior to each Mass crush I need to post before sneak peeks to get my friends and audience hyped and then MAYBE if not too tired, after the crush, clean up bts videos so people see the end to end process. LOL.
Step 4: wait until the deep dawn to crush. If you are like me and live in an apartment in the middle of the city then crushing at whim is not an option. It needs to be planned because you can probably only crush in the middle of the night or at Dawn when all the buses and cars are quiet. For me, if it’s a celebration crush, then I wait until the ‘deep dawn’ meaning very very late - like 2am -4am to ensure absolutely everything is quiet.
Step 5: Edit the videos. Another HUGE struggle. It took me a good 3-4 hours to edit this video because I COULDNT STAY AWAKE to this awesome sleep aid. It was like torture. Sleeping, waking up, trying to remember where I left off 😂. I apologize in advance for the editing because frankly I did it half asleep. On the bright side, it means this video really works as a sleep aid.
Step 6: post the video. Hmmm, this can take anywhere between 15 minutes to several hours, depending on the length of the video and the mood of the social media platform. I usually upload the video and go do other things. 🤷♀️
Step 7: write a description. Knowing me it takes a while. This took me 15-20 minutes 😬.
Step 8: go back to the crush and clean, plan the storage options for the powder. Since I’m currently out of room, I’ll be storing this powder in bin bags until I can offload some of my older powders. I may sell them again to people around in Europe who want some UPJ powders 😍. Yeah then clean the whole place only to mess it up again shorty 🤦♀️. What a vicious cycle.
Step 9: once the video is posted, monitor the progress, read comments and respond to comments and messages.
In essence a full time job. Am I right?
