Nice work! I have 3 of those and just need to replace an outboard bearing in one of them. *Be sure to stop engine when shifting into reverse/forward. Have fun! Oh, sit and lean forward and make a sharp turn at med speed to do a donut!!!! (hold on tight) Whoo Who!! 😆

You can just pinch those rings up into the cylinder, there's gaps on either side that your fingers can go. No need for zip ties holding them

I have a 93 and 94 exactly like tge other one you have. Mine is not pumping out water. I did replace the jet pump when i first bought it 8 years ago. It set for that long and this year o finally drained tge gas and installed a new battery. Thing started up like a beauty. But again im taking in a lot of water and it dosent look like it's pumping it out. I believe these pump out the rear. But i dont see a line hooked up.

It runs fantastic for the first 20 minutes and then it begins to bog down every time. But it'll immediately start right back up and idle perfect. I feel like it's either not pumping out the water could be the issue or something with that temp sensor.

@@bradbearden346 Check out my vxr 650 video. I had a cooling line that was disconnected that caused the same issue you described.

@@RuralPlayground Okay I definitely will! Subscribed and liked!! 🤙. Just changed the fuel filter and air filter. I'll check your video out prior to replacing the gas and plugs. I shouldn't have been such a cheap ass and siphon gas from my boat. It probably had some water in it.

He really goobered not leaving the shims in place. Unlike zip tieing your rings instead of just holding them in place with your fingertips, then he doesn't look and see the shims under the motor to shoot straight down the crankshaft. Ugga dugguah

Proper maintenance makes a difference between 300 hours being a death sentence and being brand new. No ethanol never. And apparently it is better to leave fuel in these with stabilizer that is to let them sit dry like other small engines.

Do you think the engine really needed to be completely removed? I just picked one up tonight, oddly enough for 200 and i was planning on redoing it in the ski. Thanks for the video!

Pulling it out makes it much easier to work on. Keeping it in the hull makes it a lot more difficult with the lack of space you have.

Hey man great work on that thing! I have the exact same jet ski and it flipped in the water a couple years ago and I havent been able to get to run since... It ran absolutely perfect before that moment. You used to be able to click the starter and it would start immediately... I can get it to start up and I can rev it but it shuts off once it comes back down to idle .... Is there anyway you know what I need to do ? Thanks a ton

Idk what you were doing with those zip ties, but they make a tool for that, and you really want to put them on the Rods first then the cylinder..

Is the compression low on the VXR? The difference in performance might be due to the pump size. Some of the Yamahas had 133mm pumps so a rebuild might not make a big difference unless it's low on compression.
