EXACTLY how I did it when I was working for Cadillac! It can be done from the top as well, but ONE SLIP with that alternator on the way up, & you're also replacing a radiator!

And even with that I like pulling from the top better still because you don’t have to take the compressor off just the a/c line

I have a coworker needing to make this repair. I'm glad I've never owned a Caddy before, and now I know I never will. Poor engineering.

Also if your in a shop you could just Evac the AC and pop the compressor off and make easier but either way better then doing the radiator and all that stuff

How long did it take to do it that way? Is it easier to go through the wheel or the radiator?

You're having more problems than I am and I didn't have the correct tools to go under it. I just took radiator loose and took it off. This was my first time bruh and you took longer. I also have an 02 deville... how to put the belt on should be your next cause I'm at that point now

Yeah, but this dude discharged the air-con; now that is extra cash to fix it. It won't be winter forever, and that's if it doesn't leak now, so probably figure in that extra expense. Taking it from the bottom is just two bolts from the subframe and a few minutes to unbolt and rebolt, and the air-con still works. Still altogether lousy engineering on the part of GM. They could have switched around the alternator with the air conditioner because you're not going to change the air conditioner more than the alternator, I hope, but go figure it's Cadillac. Who knows why they do anything. Think about the head bolt design; GM could have used studs instead of bolts, and maybe the head gaskets wouldn't blow out at 50-100 thousand miles.

Ya that's right cause you just scammed more money from the owner of that car it probably took you half of a day or more to do it that way

Don't u think taking off the compressor and going thru the recharge process is more work than taking fans off and lights
