Auburn(1-0) vs #19 Ole Miss(1-0)
In the first SEC game for both teams in 2000, Auburn played at Ole Miss. Both teams would feature talented running backs. Auburn's 1st year starting RB Rudi Johnson had a memorable 1st game against Wyoming but would face his 1st SEC team in Oxford. Ole Miss RB Deuce McAllister had helped them become a contender in the SEC West and McAllister went into the 2000 season as a potential Heisman candidate.
Auburn would jump out to a 21-7 lead by the 2nd quarter but Deuce McAllister would help Ole Miss come all the way back and take a 27-21 lead late in the 3rd quarter after an 87 yard punt return for a touchdown.. Early in the 4th quarter on a 4th and 2 for Auburn, Rudi Johnson would run for 42 yard touchdown and Auburn would retake the lead 28-27. Auburn would intercept a Romero Miller pass and add another touchdown to make the score 35-27 late in the game. Ole Miss would get the ball back one last time but Auburn would intercept another Romero Miller pass to hold on and get the win 35-27.
