Not sure this would work on your Odyssey, but just finished pulling engine on 2006 Odyssey out the top. I got a special spot weld chisel and cut all the welds on the front upper radiator support. Gave me enough room to pull out the top. I pop rivetted the support back in place.

You can pull from top. But you have to remove a ton of stuff. The alternator, the wiring, the power steering. Front manifold, intake, coil packs. You don’t have to cut anything apart, but it definitely isn’t easy. Removing from the bottom will save a ton of time

On the next one unbolt rack & pinion from steering shaft so it will come down with subframe, also undo bolts onto top of strut tower control arms will drop along with axles trans & engine

All the shop videos I have seen on KZitem show them supporting that four square frame saddle supported by jack stands and/ or a custom built wooden platform, then everything disconnected so they can lift the entire body of the van straight up leaving the engine and tranny on the floor still on the saddle, then they separate the bad engine from the tranny, wheel it away with an engine lift and bring the replacement engine to connect to the tranny then carefully lower the van back down to reinstall. I don't have a shop lift so I'm looking at pulling a 2008 3.5 from the top. Ugh!! Problem with ours is that the timing belt went and I think the valves were bent as it is an "interference" engine. Does anyone know if I can just pull the heads, inspect for damage and replace heads as necessary ( if the pistons aren't damaged?)

how long it take you to take out the engine? And how high do you have to jack up the van to pull out the engine? is the radiator support come off or not?

+Tec9COM VTEC Yes Remove the radiator support. The engine bay is pretty tight and any extra clearance is worth it.

Tec9COM VTEC make you a home made lift you ever seen the old school swing set with the metal a arm on each side...and get you a manual 2 to 5 ton crane! you can get it up way higher than the 18 to 30 inches that shop jack got.

@@nathanwhite7172 Yea best to spend a few hundred to do it safe. 50 to 100 for engine hoist, heavy duty jack 100, jack trans adapter 60, a could get a real car lift for 1500 so yea
