Hey everyone what ive found is the 3 pinns that connect to the sensor in the plug harness side the female pins have opened up they're too wide not making a great connection so what I did is Twist the three little pins in the crankshaft position sensor for instance if they're at say 12:00 twist it to 1:30 to make it a little thicker then you don't have to replace the end of the harness hope this helps somebody good luck

I'm doing the same thing. I've got no choice. The 4.7 crank wires are, inaccessible without removing the harness. The existing harness is great except for the oil saturated wires. 5v isn't much the smallest ground will disrupt signal. The new wire ground can be connected to the block five! volts is shared with the cam sensor all you need is the orange to the 17 hole.

Good day. I am from Sierra Leone. I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ of the same age. It cranked but did not start. The timing was reset and it can now start. But the problem now is, when the engine is running and engages gear R or D it stalls. Can you advice what is the problem?

Hi, ive got a 2000 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo 4.7 the crankshaft position sensor kerps going bad on it ive changed it like 5 times already, with a new crank sensor it only runs one time then after shutdown it wont start again,

@jrdominguez3454 ok so there is an video on crank sensor gapping on south main auto repair it's very informative and if the crank sensor is not gapped right you can get this situation! Also if there's signs of indentation damage on the end of the sensor then your crank shaft bearings are out and wabling. Next is the crank and cam sensor corelation which means you need to test your cam sensors as well cause they work together and if the cam sensor is bad you'll get this situation as well sometimes!

Hey man I got p1391 code could it be possible that the wire got nicked when doing a engine swap my jeep was missing bad at first it has gotten better since fixing my breather hose but still does it when motor is warmed up and driven long enough occasionally it will do it if I hit a bump I got SPUTTERING BACKFIRING and hesitation on acceleration and the smell of un burned fuel when it's happening then my gas ⛽ just drops I can waste 40 miles to empty worth of gas in like 10miles no joke

So check fuel injectors cause when you can't find the unturned fuel smell sometimes you have an injector that's sticking open but when I have an minute and I'm back home ill look into your issues more and see what I can help you with! How many miles on jeep what make and model and have the injectors been done ?

Also check harness for shorts at the cam or crank sensor plug ends and check crank sensor for damage if it wasn't properly gapped to read right (south main auto repair channel) has a video on adjusting the gap on crank sensor. There's also crank and cam correlation that you may have to do an adaption process through scanner tool to readap them to work together depends on vehicle 😉

So I've sofare changed the cam sensor and the connector plug it had oil all over it but the p1391 code is still with me and the intermittent issue of SPUTTERING misfiring BACKFIRING and most def. Shutting off is more present know only on warm up thou I got a scam tool that read live data but idk how to check my cam and crank on it it's the Innova 3040rs scan tool I'm going to change crank sensor in a hour hop that fixes things

@@danpeterson3739 yah sounds like I would try replacing crank sensor and look for damage to it could lead you to other issues if it is. Also look into videos on gapping crank sensors properly. If not these jeeps sometimes need the harness replaced for the crank do to shorts. Now I also know this if the cam and crank sensors share the same system as the o2 sensors or mas sensor or map sensor then if any are shorted they'll all have issues as well so visually inspect your whole car or at least the sensors on that circuit. If there is an break or power steering leak those fluids can blow back onto electric and are highly corrosive and can cause shorting issues as well.

@@wrightsrrt871 okay so I did the crank sensor and you wouldn't believe this Soo when I was doing my engine swap a few months back I had both engine on the ground tried to take crank and cam from my old motor and the crank wouldn't come out on this motor I had got the bolt out but the sensor was stuck in and I said f*&+ it if it starts it works I forgot to put the crank sensor bolt back in and I didn't have issues at first but I did start having issues as the crank sensor got loose no bolt I still replaced the sensor sense I was able to know get it out and got the new sensor in and no code and no intermittent issues at all the jeep idles and drive fine and I got my gas mileage back a bit too the harness to the sensor was also fine and intact so I'm happy know can finally make it to work on time
