My grandfather had a 99 and 00 navigator back to back. I was a young kid but I remember the smoothness and the leather smell. He later had a 2001 S600 V12 and I remember him saying how he preferred the Navigators for their comfortability, functionality, and reliability.

Ford interiors always tend to hold up exceptionally well compared to the trash from GM & Chrysler. I also love how they upgraded the interior with soft to the touch materials on the Navigator.

I always loved the first gen Navigators. They were very classy unique for it's time and well built. My uncle had one back in 2001, and I thought that it was the fanciest suv to exist. It had a DVD player, smooth seats and was huge. Thats amazing that you were able to find one that was clean, and not pimped out. Nowdays I mostly see these suvs all pimped out

Even though it's basically a Ford Expedition, it looks alot better than the Expedition.

I have 2001 4X4 exact trim as yours with 297,900 miles. The engine is in top performance shape, however the original transmission is showing signs of its age. Also, being it a Chicago driven SUV needs quite a lot of body work. Despite that the frame itself is still solid. It may not be an everyday driver, I am keeping it as a project car, so one of those days it will look as good as yours. Thank you for a great presentation !!!

Glad to see this old 1st gen navigator still in excellent shape. The second generation was a huge leap over this one in the interior but those are all roached out now as they dont really hold up. Sadly the later 2nd gen used the 3v instead of the intech engine, especially the seats and the power tailgate (which was quite rare back then, and worked in a very strange way and was very loud when in operation)

Good video and good info. I recently inherited my late mother's 99 Navigator, been doing some work to it and putting on my channel. Definitely do not see many of these anymore. Appreciate the video my friend.

I will have one, one day! I'm waiting for my van to die. I'm putting off the timing chain to speed it up. She's got 200k. I'm constantly coming back to this video and watching its entirety. I suppose you could say I'm obsessed 😅

Just put a deposit on a '99 with a claimed 95,000 miles. Picking it up four days from now. Don't know yet if it has the 2V or the Intech.

@@dubghost1829 i picked it up and drove it from the Seattle area to my home on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. The miles are real, still under 100,000. It is not the Intech 32v engine.
