Great like every other video. Thanks for doing that! Short question: did you choose a made in Mexico or Japan one? As i know there are no US ones out there? Thanks!

Hi, thanks for the comment! My pleasure! It's a Made In Japan model, I think they all were back then from 1998 until they brought in the Mexico version, I bought mine secondhand in 2005 so definitely a Made In Japan. Cheers!

Hi, good demo. Are the pick ups the stock ones? Cheers

Hi there, thanks for the comment. Yes, they are the original Fender Japan pickups. Cheers!

Very cool. As I understand it, the John East pre can only play passive mode in both pickups or bridge pickup only, not with neck pickup. Is that correct?

I don't think that's correct, I'll check it out and come back to you.

Hi John, okay, checked the documentation, you are correct, that is the case, the passive option is meant as a 'get out of jail' solution if the battery died. However, if you're looking for a plummy, Precision-type tone from the neck pickup, switch to 'both pickups' mode with the switch and close the passive tone control to give you a rounder tone. Hope that helps!

@@BrooksysBassCorner Great! I don't have this preamp yet. I'm thinking about changing the stock pre, and I'm not sure whether I want to or not yet. What I definitely want is a tone control that'll work with either pickup separately or both together in both passive and active modes. I've heard a lot about the John East, the Sadowsky, and the Aguilar.

All fine preamps. The joy of John's circuits is that he can tailor it to your requirements. I suggest you email John or call him up and tell him what you want and he'll then be able to go through the options with you.

@@BrooksysBassCorner Great! I'll keep that in mind. Do you find that the preamp keeps the original sound of the Fender MM while providing some extra options?
