Hehe, I remember the webcast he was talking about toward the end-- he really was very drunk, and I have vague memories of Ed being drunk as well and occasionally shouting "honk!" Admittedly though, it makes me kind of sad to hear the bit at the beginning of Thom's part, about how presumably fans had upset him; like that they'd come up to him on the street and not know what to say, and that this had upset him because he felt they associated him with the record too much. Those fans were probably so tongue-tied and filled with adoration, but it had just made him angry =(

"We don't expect people ages 12-16 to want to come to our gigs at all..." I'm a 14 year old girl, and there is nowhere I would rather be than a Radiohead concert. People expect me to like stupid one direction and all that manufactured crap... Radiohead and R.E.M. are the real deal. I feel like I was born in the wrong generation!

I'm 20 and I still dislike 79% of my generation. Lol. I wish I was this age at the time Radiohead started their stuff so I could grow with their music like most of my grown up friends have. But I guess you younger folk get it worse because your more susceptible to being typecast as some sorta One Directioner or whatever.

+Mostly Harmless I'm 35 and I enjoy reading these kind of comments. But I'm sure you could find interesting bands of your generation. You are lucky to have internet and sites like Spotify, Lastfm, Deezer, Gnoosic, and also Bandcamp or Soundcloud to discover new music (not to mention the numerous webzines, blogs and record labels online)... We didn't have that when I was 14 and still managed to discover good stuff. I'm sure with all the tools you have you can find out some new interesting artists. Maybe not as good as Radiohead but... who knows ? After all, even Radiohead was once an "uninteresting" band playing at the Jericho Tavern in Oxford. Who could have told how amazing they would become ten years later ? No one. So... Give those new artists a try, you'll never know what they'll turn out to be.
@AMOW42

ugh, i cringe a little re-reading that, I seem extremely pouty and pretentious. Recently I've discovered lots of new artists that I love like Wolf Alice, Yak, Courtney Barnett and Sunflower Bean, I haven't given up hope, and all this wrong-generation stuff is silly because as you said I am lucky to have access to pretty much every piece of music that has ever existed for free on the internet (although I'm trying to buy CDs and records more instead of downloading from youtube). And yes I do use soundcloud a lot, there are rumours that it'll shut down which would really suck as I've discovered lots of really great music on it. The only thing I'm sad about is a lot of the bands that I love are too old / dead / broken up so I will never see them in concert, although I might be seeing Radiohead and Pixies this summer so hoorah! All is well. :D
