I’m also trying to get something on my 03 explorer just trying to find out if the 99-04 mustang gt stuff will work for the explorer to, it’s hard finding the right fit so far

WizardSleeve117 No the 2v Mustang GT stuff won’t fit. The stock Explorer 2v block is aluminum like the 3v, so it actually uses a 3v front cover. The 05-10 Mustang GT Vortech bracket fits the Explorer. I think the pro charger is on the wrong side of the engine and will interfere with the battery, so if I remember only the Vortech will physically fit that engine bay. Also, with the supercharger mounted, there isn’t enough room for an air filter. I had to move the top of the radiator forward like 3/4” to fit the thinnest k&n air filter I could find (designed for a carb). It surprisingly wasn’t a restriction at 9-10 lbs of boost.

Hey mate, was there much work to do our a direct bolt on? What are the details? Really want to do mine after seeing this, I have a 2005 4.6 explorer, thanks

Christopher K there isn’t a direct bolt on. You have to use a Vortech blower bracket from an 05-10 Mustang GT and custom make all the intake piping. I would recommend a V3 head unit because they are self contained so you don’t have to worry about an oil feed and drilling the pan for an oil return (very little space to do it and a pain). I used a Vortech after cooler for an intercooler. You have to convert to an electric fan to clear the blower (used a Chevy HHR fan). Also, there is only 1 K&N air filter I could find that would fit on the blower. It’s a carb style and is the correct flange to fit the blower, and only fits if you move the top of the radiator forward about 3/4 to 1” because it’s such a tight fit. I used a Lincoln Aviator fuel pump and Mustang Cobra 39LB blue injectors and a range extender for my stock MAF, but yours has a card style MAF so I don’t know if that is an option for you. There is a lot of figuring stuff out but it would be best if you were able to park it while you figured everything out. I was able to do it while I daily drove mine by figuring out one thing at a time so I could keep it driveable, but it took a lot longer to do it that way.

Sean Anon everything I used to make this work was adapted from other vehicles. I converted to an electric cooling fan from a Chevy HHR, the supercharger bracket is 05-09 Mustang gt, the headunit is a v2 sq injectors are 03-04 cobra and maf is stock with a MAFia range extender. I used a vortech aftercooler and made all custom air piping and used a heat exchanger for the coolant that I had lying around. There is a lot of stuff that is trial and error and there is barely enough room for an air filter (only 1 k&n made that is the right flange and is thin enough with the radiator pulled forward at the top about 1”). I would only suggest this if you have the time and knowledge and can leave the vehicle not drivable for a short period if you are in the middle of working on figuring stuff out.

bbm98c5 - I got a question and I think your probably the best person to ask. I’ve been looking for headers, do you know any that will off the shelf, fit the truck? Or am I gunna need to get mustang headers and a pipe bender? And I see on down the comments you sold the truck, I was hoping to see new videos of it. Guess I’m a few years late to the game. 😆

Sean Anon I believe there are shorty headers made for the explorer but I never had any mine was on stock manifolds it only had 3” catback custom exhaust. I don’t think anyone makes long tubes for the explorer. The cobra 39lb blue injectors are plug and play as far as they fit and plug in but you still must adjust the tune for bigger injectors or it will run very rich. I have almost all of the parts that I took off when I sold it and put it back to stock.

bbm98c5 - hmmm I don’t have tons of cash but wanna beef mine up a little, I figured headers would be a good start, then I would work on more airflow. I already did the delete of the... I forget what it’s called, a thing that ford had inside the intake for noise reduction, it growls when I floor it, and I think has a little more HP, but that may all be in my head. 😆 Now sounds like a cop cruiser in hot pursuit.

Yes I would recommend the V3 head unit as it is self contained and yes the 05-10 Mustang GT 3V bracket is what I used. You have to convert to electric fan to make room for the supercharger setup as the mechanical fan is in the way.

@@mercury0214 You need the belt that is for an 05-10 Mustang GT with a Vortech Supercharger. You can find the correct belt by looking up the 05-10 Mustang GT V3 kit and seeing what belt comes with that kit. I don’t remember the part number off the top of my head.

Wonderful‼️I have an 2002 4.6 Eddie Bauer that I plan to SC. Right now we did Stage 2 CompCams but I am having a difficult time getting a Custom Tune into it. Who did your dyno-tuning, what device are you using, and did you have any tuning issues ? Any help will be much appreciated...

I used an SCT device for tuning and had a shop tune it. It was tuned on a dyno and it ran awesome under WOT.

@@atck96 I used an SCT 3015. I don’t think you can still buy it and I think it is no longer supported. You would have to contact an SCT tuner and see if they can tune it using the newer devices that are available now.

I drove it for about a year and a half like that and then brought it back to stock and sold it. Never had any problems with it and I beat on it a lot.

The setup is in the description, also 39lb cobra injectors and an Aviator fuel pump (stock blow through MAF with a MAFia extender). Boost was 9-10 lbs at 6000 RPM. The video is only pulling to 5500 RPM so a little less in this video.

I put it back to stock and sold it. I upgraded to a newer vehicle. 0-60 was in the 5.6-5.9 sec on 32" tires and 3.73 gears. Stock size would be faster. I had the blower and after cooler off of an old vehicle and the exhaust on it. Besides those I had about $1500 in it including the tune plus a lot of time and fabrication/figuring out what would work off a mustang to make it work.
