I have the same Hummer and have been debating this lift. It's looks great. One thing that changes the look a LOT and makes it look even taller is simply removing the nerf bars but then you need a ladder to get in :)

Lol yes I contemplated taking them off to. Those particular ones I can't find anywhere. They're mounted to the frame with brackets. There were runners or cheap rock sliders above them that were attached to the body but there was no real room to step on the nerf bar safely and one of the body mounts I couldn't tighten up so I just took them off. You can see that in my first hummer walk-around video. Thanks for the compliment. I get a lot in public even before the lift. A guy at work calls it the cartel hummer...lol People have called it a monster and tank and all kinds of things with just the leveling kit. Wait till they see it now!

Another thing, if I didn't run into other issues like blown brake lines and messing up the abs pump, it would've taken me probably 2 full days by myself. I really only only get 1 day off a week if that to do my own things so between that and waiting for more crap to come in the mail and other things going on with some weeks on my day off, my time was extremely limited to work on it. I don't really feel that having access to a lift helped me that much. Jack's, jack stands, and 4x4 chunks I could've done it in the same time I think. It did help with the rear as far as adding the 2" spring spacers.

It'll be a while because I have to pay off some credit cards but last week I co-signed for my girlfriend to get a 2010 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Completely stock. She wants a 4" lift with 35"s. The lift is fairly cheap but rims and tires aren't...lol

Hi, is only the Fabtech 6 installed to raise or is something else installed?

Technically only the 6" lift and 37' tires but you also need 4.5" backspace on your wheels or -44 offset or more which I didn't know until I read the instructions but already had them. The rear I also have an additional 2" leveling kit which they told me not to install but I have so much extra weight in the rear it was lower than the front so I had to. 125lb spare on the roof, 130lb subwoofer box and spare battery in the trunk, my winch on a hitch in the trunk is another 100 or so, and probably another 100 in off road gear so yea I had no choice but to add something to fix it. I understand why they said not to though, mostly because of the drivers side spring ending up against the gas tank cover when extended but I won't have that problem because of the weight. Maybe if I do some extreme off roading but I'm confident in there not being any issues for me.

@@james102377 So there could be problems installing the 2 lift kit. And what else do you need for the lift kit?
@james102377

@@realhummer you don't need that extra 2" in the rear if you don't have a ton of weight in the trunk like I do but obviously the Fabtech 6" lift kit and as far as tools, a decent set because you're pretty much pulling your entire front end out apart. You'll need a sawzall with a good $15 blade to cut thick metal because of the mount you need to cut off the differential and the bracket on the frame on the drivers side. A welder to weld the piece of steel to the end of the bracket you cut off the frame. That's more of a support issue so when you bolt the new stuff you don't crush it in and can probably get it welded in after the fact but maybe not. I ended up not using spring compressors because I dropped the whole axle basically, only left upper rear arms attached but remove brake bracket off the axle first. A drill and some good bits I can't remember the sizes. Torsion key tool as well. Depending on how strong you are or how you're doing it, possible you'll need help reinstalling the front differential. I have other random videos with some of the problems I ran into or whay I had to do rather. I was using a lift to I needed someone else for literally 30 seconds to put a bolt in the right side differential bracket while I held it up but on the floor with a jack would've worked by myself.

For the record I had a 3" Supreme Suspensions leveling kit installed before this which I took out for the 6". That was pretty basic. Torsion keys and blocks under the springs and I got 37's on but they rubber my wells in reverse and I got tired of it and didn't want to cut them. That's like $100 or so. Fairly easy unless your keys are stuck too bad. My rear axle was over an inch with that but you could spend another $100 on an adjustable track bar to get it back over. I didn't even notice for weeks other than my alignment was weird and they didn't mention it sticking out and aligned with the rear. Idiots. They do an excellent job though.

@@james102377 So it hangs too high if you have installed the 2 lift kit. Are there any problems driving around without weight?

That would be pointless unless the doors were too. My emp shield 🛡 came in today though. I'll be putting that in soon.

For the record, since I bought it 9 months ago I've put over $10k into it.
