Congrats man! I had an 06 XRS in the same color but no moonroof. She was killed by a drunk driver 4 years ago :( Still miss her to this day. My setup was a Monkey-wrench Racing clutch, Monkey-wrench Racing shifter and base bushings, Fidanza flywheel, Speedsource clutch pushrod and topped off with a TRD shift knob from an FJ Cruiser. That had it feeling like the shifter was directly mounted to the transmission. Have fun with it!

Hey man, I just subscribed! I saw you subscribed to my SparkyS2k channel and came to check you out. Congratulations on getting the XRS! Get the ECU update from R9k - you'll be very glad you did! It makes high lift engage earlier (I think around 5800) and raises the redline so you can stay in lift between 2nd and 3rd gear (no gap from 64 - 74 MPH). For AX wheels, I'd recommend 17x8 RPF1 wheels with 225/40/17 RE71-R tires (that's what I use for track, and AX if I get around to taking the Corolla to another AX day). Also EBC Yellow Stuff brake pads; I run those in track and street, which is a lot more convenient than swapping ot pads like I do on the S2000.

I have had a 2005 Corolla XRS since September 2004 when I picked it up brand new. As a new engineer out of school in his mid-20s, this was the perfect car for me. I modded the hell out of it. Intake, exhaust, MWR light flywheel, 2003 Matrix XRS ECU with lift at 6100 rpm, flywheel bolts, Enkei lightweight wheels, Megan racing springs, Koni yellow adjustable shocks etc. Still have it at 160,000 miles I drove it. Even though, I also have a Lexus RX450h for family and a 2016 Lexus RCF carbon/TVD, the XRS is also there will me and drives perfectly. The first mod I would suggest is getting R9Ktune to reflash the ECU so that lift comes in at 5800 rpm. You will enjoy it a lot more with 3000+ rpm of lift. There are now a lot of modding options than when I used mod mine back almost 10 years ago. My Corolla XRS has 160,000 miles I put on it and it is still going strong. Here is a video of my XRS with 2003 Matrix XRS ECU kzitem.info/news/bejne/pGxswGp7jKehmKQ

Thats awesome. Thanks for sharing. Ive been really happy with the car after ~7 months of ownership. What wheels did you put on your XRS? Im looking at some right now and Im liking the Enkei px10 (brand new design) when it comes off backorder. I like the RPF1s a lot but just a little too expensive. Im definitely going to have to look into that r9ktune that would be so awesome if lift came on a little earlier for me.
@2ZZGE100
3 жыл бұрын
@@ZachD Thanks man. Glad to hear you are enjoying the XRS. You really got a pristine condition one luckily that looks brand new. Mine has 160K miles and it does show its age. Still it drives amazingly well. Even though I have a modded 500+ HP RCF, the XRS has its own charm. A small, lightweight pocket rocket that goes like a little go-kart the way I have it setup. I have the Enkei PF01 17 x 7.5 wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport in 215/45/17. Great combination. Great wheels and tires. I also have megan race springs and Koni yellow adjustables and with a good alignment, the car really handles. A bit rough ride with springs and adjustable dampers, but still fun. In winters, I have 16 x 7 wheels with all-weather tires to handle the snow. Since I have the RX450h to do all of the family work, the XRS is really my commute to office and back, but because of COVID I work from home so the XRS sits in the parking stall pretty much most of the time. I would recommend doing Injen cold air intake, a full exhaust, R9K tune at a minimum. If you want do more extensive mods then MWR 8.8 lbs flywheel and a ACT stage 1 clutch like my setup, would be great. I was planning on doing PPE headers and R9K tune before I shelved the plans since I put a whole chunk of cash to purchase the RCF. It gives an increase in HP up to about 190 - 195 whp from stock 161 whp from what I remember with all of these mods. Also, you get a much broader powerband with R9K tune. Still, I have no plans of selling the XRS. Considering how I have it setup and the money I put into this car, it is worth far more to me than a small niche buyer. There is lots you can do to your XRS and it will only become more fun. Cheers!
