I’ve been waiting for this upload. I can remember that first Rex completion over the middle like yesterday.

This battle between 9-4 Chicago and 8-5 Atlanta was the last meaningful ESPN Sunday Night Football game

Man, when Grossman came in the field, the crowd went insane. I thought we were ready for a Super Bowl run. Then our defense imploded against Carolina.

I remember watching this game live. Man was this a masterclass by the Bears Defense. It's insane how good that played this game.

Remember this game. A cold night in Chicago. Remember the Falcons had an 8-5 record and and had destiny in their hands to make the playoffs and win the tough NFC South division; with Tampa Bay and Carolina both top 5 defenses in the league. The Falcons just choked and weren't consistent in finishing the season. strong. Michael Vick though was talented in Atlanta, he was very spoiled and didn't put in the work ethic as he should.

Mike Patrick: "In the first half these two teams combined for 23 passing yards". Rex Grossman surpasses that himself the first series he's in the game.

I’ve been waiting to see this game for a long time. Other than seeing Grossman’s first completion, I missed the rest of the game the 1st time around.

This 05 Bears defense was better than the 06 defense that played the superbowl. The 06 defense had some serious injuries (probowlers Mike Brown and one of the best DTs of that time Tommie Harris)

We messed up when we rode Grossman and not Orton

Did you not pay attention to this video? Orton rode the Bears Great Defense and Special Teams. He was awful. Rex came into this game and pumped some juice into this offense. He carried that into 2006 Weeks 1-5 winning NFC September Offensive Player of the Month and put on a clinic against reigning NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football. That Arizona Game really messed with him. Even if you didn't care for Grossman it was Griese that was the Super Bowl team's backup.

@jayzee7538 Respectfully Disagree completely. the turnovers are what loss the superbowl. Orton was definitely the backup QB and he protected the ball. When he played and all he did was Win. When he started

Orton did not play one single play that Super Bowl Season. In this 2005 Season go look at his stats they were awful. We were winning games 10-7 due to super defense and a touchdown from special teams. Unfortunately the defense has an off day in playoffs against Panthers but if Orton plays we lose 29-0 not 29-21. We aren't making the Super Bowl in 2006-07 Season with no playmaking ability on offense (Orton was a hand-off specialist). Yes, Rex turned it over more but he had more upside and usually someone with more upside is proned to more turnovers. I can guarantee Brad Johnson has less interceptions in his career than Peyton Manning but Manning fired it away more due to being more talented so he was prone to them more. However, you are going to get higher ceiling with Manning than Johnson. Same with Grossman and Orton. Even so, if a quarterback change would've happened in 2006 it's Brian Griese. He could game manage like Orton but better but still could make a play happen on offense, not as good as Rex but he wasn't turnover prone like him either.
