I purchased my '06 MTS 620 Dark new. I absolutely love it. 15,000 miles and no issues. I'm not sure I agree with the complaints about the "fit and finish." Everything seems well thought out during the design. Easy access to important parts that require maintenance. And I love the unique look! It's a Pierre Terblanche design and he is not appreciated by all. Thanks for the review.

I have the same bike with termignoni pipes. Getting close to 20k miles and still running great.It makes for a perfect city commuter & occasional out of town ride. Great mpg and beside the basics it's virtually maintenance free. Air cooled engine is very easy to work on as well.

I recently bought this same bike with factory panniers. Not my only ride, but wanted a good all around bike for commuting & w/e jaunts. I love it, warts & all. Previous owner dealt with ethanol fuel pump/tank issue & paid dealer for timing belt replacement & valve adjust & fresh Sportmax Q3s So, it was a no brainier for $2k with only 8k miles! I've added a rear tire hugger from a Monster, also a front fender extension, taller windscreen & handguards. With a 12v outlet & USB connect it's rock solid, reliable & simple to work on. It will share space with my other steeds for a long, long time! Thanks for this review & the pillion points are spot on too. Wifey's only complaints mimic Kristen's.

Good review mate, thanks! Currently cleaning one up as my first bike. Just needs new steering head bearings, tyre, battery and regular maintenance. Fingers crossed I’ll be ready to roll soon. You are right, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I actually quite like the look.

Given the trend towards smaller and lighter ADV bikes like the Tiger 800, Tenere 700, KTM 690, Versys 650, VStrom 650, NC700x, GS700, etc I wouldn’t be surprised if Ducati were to release a similar bike to this with technology & performance updates. Also I would watch any motorcycle review new or old. If it’s got two wheels & an engine I’m in!

Just watched this video for the fun of it. I rode a 620 many years ago and was really surprised at how much I liked it. I never bought one and recently came across a pristine example that would be fun to own. That said, this was a fun video to watch as it was looking back at something not many people know much about. If you decide to do more videos like this, it would be fun to hear your report on it from a historical perspective instead of a modern-day style review. I think many of us would appreciate seeing bikes from back in the day we wish we had purchased or had at least considered. And still might! lol. As noted, the Multi 620/1000/1100 really didn't get much love because it's homely, however, it's a great motorcycle outside of that. It's also fun to look back on those bikes and realize, even though today's bikes are superior, a lot of those bikes were, and still are very good. Keep up the great work. You and Kristin make a great team.

Thomas, thank you very much for taking the time to not only watch the video but to write a great response. I totally agree with you that those types of videos would make for some interesting content. I'm going to write your suggestion down and see if I can make something like that happen.

I own a red one and while a lot of people think it's ugly I have received lots of compliments on it, great bike, the fuel tank was replaced at no charge by Ducati to fix the ethanol problem so other than that I have had no issues other than finding the time to ride it !

I've been toying around with that idea. There are a lot of great affordable (cheap) used bikes out there that would be great for those on a tighter budget or like you said, as a second bike.

2 Wheeled Rider especially if you gave annual maintenance type costs with them, since an old Duc would cost more than a newer Kawasaki. BTW, the cyclops lights on my 1290 are awesome!
@2WR
6 жыл бұрын
Glad you're enjoying the Cyclops lights. As for the maintenance costs, yes they would be most expensive but not significantly for DIY guys. Oil/filter, air filter, and plugs at 6k v 7.5k so not a huge difference. Cam belts need replaced every 2 years so that works about to about an extra $45 a year. The big difference is the valve checks at 6k v 26k. If you're taking it to a dealer or shop the air-cooled Ducati will cost WAY more maintenance-wise but if you're doing it yourself, it works out to about an extra $60 a year to maintain figuring 6k miles a year.

Thanks for video! I'm buying same bike in few days. Seemsto run well but needs some body panels replaced was dropped in grass at slow speed . Looked at a 2012 696 but cause of back issues don't think I could ride with out being uncomfortable. ( Was a good deal tho) Like the upright riding position of the multistrada . I got it at fairly decent deal hope it is dependable.?

My sister has been riding her 2002 Monster 620 since it was new and aside from the gauge cluster crapping out under warranty, no issues since (same mechanics as the Multi). Those air-cooled twins are very dependable. The only thing you may want to look into doing is adding an oil cooler. You can normally find used oil coolers on eBay cheap and they're an easy install.

David, it'd be a great bike to start on but you'd likely need to go with heavier springs in the forks and shock given your weight. It's sprung for about a 170lb rider in stock form.
