Actually the compressors don't always go bad on these. It's actually the clutch. Since most people take it to a shop the shops won't work clutches. They'll just tell you you need a whole new compressor. Which is why everyone thinks 3rd gen CR-Vs have bad compressors. If anyone having ac problems with theirs all u gotta do is buy a new clutch. Remove old clutch and put on new one! There are many important steps to take before and after the installation. You can find on KZitem

We have the last model of the RE 2.4, 2012. Had it since new and done 27000 km or 16875 miles so far. Been sitting inside mum's garage most of the time until a few years ago. The car only gets driven about 1200 miles each year. We've also had the new 2017 until 2 years ago. Whilst the 1.5 Turbo is more powerful and responsive, the RE2.4 from 2012 is definitely more refined.

The AC clutch is usually what goes bad, not the entire compressor. I have a 2009 CRV and clutch has a regular clicking sound as you use the AC. It starts to degrade and will not turn on. Also Catalytic converter cover usually disintegrates and you will need a stainless belt to keep it together. Also door master control switch console switch on driver side goes bad. Probably already replaced for you. Also starter goes around 10-12 years and will give you the impression of slow starts but the battery and alternator are fine. Otherwise it’s been a reliable ride for me now at 132k miles

Hey! Your problem with the air conditioner is most likely replacing the pulley bearing and setting the correct clutch clearance. Chek these part numbers: 38912PE1702 (shim set) and EP35BD4820T1XDDUM01 (pulley bearing). Or may be the problem is - 38924RWCA02, but you can change a thermal fuse under compоund, if it isn't work under voltage. Had the same problem. Good luck!
@marcbee1234
3 жыл бұрын
Actually I did not have any problem at all with the A/C system, I replaced the compressor with a quality name brand (Denso) because I read and my mechanic told me these compressors tend to blow out particles throughout the A/C system then you need to replace $2000 plus in components instead of just the compressor (under $400). It was an insurance policy than anything else. If you know exactly what part of the compressor disintegrates and you could post it here that'd be helpful.
@SheremetAndrew

This is a very common problem - a small bearing and a large pulley, unlike CR-V 2002-2006, the bearing overheats, the clearance increases and the clutch plate does not work. The next time this problem arises, you can simply replace the bearing ($ 10) and set the correct plate clearance to 0.3 - 0.35 mm. Hope this will be helpful.

I have an ‘08 crv EXL with nav. Everything’s going to shit on it. Replaced one rear door lock, then the other broke, transmission shifts very hard, potentially a clogged shift solenoid, throttle gets stuck when cold (cleaned throttle body and reset TPS/ PCM didn’t fix anything), poor fuel economy, rust spots on the hood, nav no longer works. For all of these problems, it somewhat makes since as I nearly have 200k miles on it. I gotta say, it still is an extremely fun car to drive for what it is. Steering is perfectly weighted as well. Sound system is great for what it is, very loud and very thumpy, just lacking low end bass, hoping to add an 8” spare-tire subwoofer soon. The stock 5.25” sub is strong but with no low end bass. I agree with you in regards to the seat! I had an 02 Honda CRV and it had leather seats, it was not comfortable! I eventually upgraded after a few years to find and own a 07 Honda CR-V with cloth seats and with only 125,000 miles on it, which isn't too shabby. About a year after I got it the a/c compressor broke blowing hot air. My mechanic found out the a/c compressor was not original OEM and was replaced with the previous owner. But decided to replace the whole a/c system in case it wasn't just that one part. I also had the shocks replaced and put new brake pads on all four wheels and new shoe pads too, as they were very worn down. The ABS line had to be replaced too... Even though these kinds of things needed upgrades, it's definitely worth it! (Side story: The Catalytic Converter (CAT) almost got stolen... Thank goodness the thieves took off and only made one cut through it. Had to weld it back and I got bars going around It under the car..) Be careful out there guys/gals!

The 07 Tucson was the best year of that model. As for Honda, I have always been a Honda & Toyota guy but Honda started screwing up in 2016. They now have the worse rated SUV in the market the 1.5L Turbo leak and burn oil in cold climate right brand new off the lots. JUNK. Toyota lost its shine in 2020 on the Rav4's as Hyundai beat them out in 2020 for fewer problems or issues. I was shocked. But to be fair if we go back and look at Toyota there are two things that stand out that were probably the reason they stayed at the top for so long. 1) They were not the first implementors of new industry changes in the product they put out. They would usually let other companies do it first sit back for a year or two and see what the problems people are complaining about before adopting such changes. 2) Is a production process that only exists at Toyota and also now Tesla where if there was a small problem with a mechanical design that seems to repeat and affect even a small number of their cars say maybe 1000 they will get their engineers to redesign it to solve the problem and once they do they don't wait for the next model design to imple4ment and adopt the change. They will do it even in the middle of model life and not wait for the next one.
