It's great to see these and then look at these same sprinters today. Nellum and Blake both getting medals in the 2012 olympics. Man, but what if Nellum doesn't get shot in college. Maybe he could be in the 400 what Blake is in the 100 and 200!

that was one of the most amazing races i've ever seen...the way the dude for the winning team on the third leg just had that monster kick to take the lead for the anchor...the way the anchor leg closed on first but first kept his composure...all around incredible race, and this comment is coming from a miler/XC runner!

I've had the opportunity to watch Nellum tear it up in California high school track because I was an athlete and coach.They have league meets, invitationals, and relays. Then, CIFprelims->CIFfinals->CIFmasters->CIFstateprelims->CIFstatefinals. CA high school trackstars go through a long process,so I can understand if Nellum didn't have a faster split than Blake because CA State Championships are a bigger deal. CIFprelims, all the was to State Finals,he sharpened and peaked at the right time. : ]

4X4 Relay legs are timed from the point the baton passes the middle of the zone (which is indeed the finish line on the last three legs), to the point it passes the middle of the zone again. Time it in that way and YOU'LL see.................. 45.3 for Nellom........................45.2 for Blake

By my watch I had Nellom at 45.3 and Blake at 45.2 for what it's worth. But also keep in mind that Nellom split a 44.6 at the California state championships in June of that season. In this race, it appears that he's not running his fastest. But, who knows....................................

I ran in the trials for this but we only ran 3:20.1 and we were in the fastest heat. But i was also on the 4x8 relay and we made the championship of america. I anchored and i am not exaggerating when I say if there was a jet taking off in the middle of the field, hell 20 feet away, i would not have heard it. Im going for blood this year in the 4x8 and we stand a chance to metal this year in the COA 4x4 too...I must beat the Jamaicans.

You can see B. Nellum crusing the first 200 and Y. Blake is putting the gas pedal down. But Nellum has Blake in his pocket, watch the last 100 and everyone can tell it is Bryshon Nellum in complete control. Jamaica hand picks the best in the country and still can't beat Long Beach Poly.

Well, I don't want you to go against your coach. But, the way that you're taking splits is the way that many do it................and it's wrong. I've competed, coached, and studied track and field for over 25 years. The correct way to time a split is stopping the watch every time the baton passes the middle of the zone. Trust me dude!
@iguillo
15 жыл бұрын
I've been involved with track and field for almost thirty years. I know how to time a relay. One thing that I know that you don't do, is carry out a hand time out to to hundredths of a second. So, I would question the 45.54 and 45.66 times quoted. 4X4 relay legs are timed from the middle of the zone, if you really want to be technical. What it appears you have done is timed them from the point they recieved the baton, to the finish line. I did not do that. This is not correct.
