Just on that engine - yes, the architecture is BMW and it's probably built by BMW, but the specification is 100% Rolls Royce - ignition/injection mapping, camshaft profiles, valve timing, even piston specification - everything that makes it tick was decided in Goodwood not in Munich.

Yes we enjoyed ! :) Thanks for this overview of a pretty rare car, in a nice area and landscape. Can't imagine testing a RR in the Parisian trafic or in any big unsafe city, making tests so stressful. @TobiasRieper047

I remember when this car came out on the market, I was stunned with the design. As mentioned in previous videos, I'm more of a Porsche guy, but RR's has always been something interesting. This car had a lot of features and design quirks that made this super interesting. Also with some of the typical Rolls aesthetics, this one started the trend we know today with their vehicles. I dont think you can really compare this with Bentley or Maybach, personally I think those two are closer together than Rolls Royce does. But Rolls certainly is on a whole different level. Still, you can either agree or disagree with its design, but it still makes people look up when a Rolls Royce passes by or drives up. No matter what era it was made in.

@straightpipediesel
2 жыл бұрын
It's a Rolls Royce tradition since the 70's I believe. I think it was there to remind people of RR's aircraft roots since turboprop/shaft engines are flown with a torque gauge. It's actually more useful than a tach on an automatic, modern ECUs have a power measure you can pull up on a scan gauge/vehicle monitor and it's useful to see when driving.

One should not forget that RR, Bentley, Lamborghini and the other small manufacturers would all no longer exist if they had not been taken over by BMW, VW and other large corporations. These companies had neither the money nor the technical know-how for the new assistance systems, crash tests, pedestrian protection, the constantly tightened exhaust gas values that are only possible with new filter systems and cylinder deactivation. In addition, every country has different requirements and regulations that an independent small manufacturer can no longer do everything. 30 years ago anyone could build cars, but today it costs huge sums to develop and test the new technology.

Bash me if you may but I was in the market for a Rolls Royce Phantom. A 2021 model with all the bells and whistles. The final price came to about 670K. For a few more hundred Ed thousand I can also get a get nice boat are super car. I was able to spend a week with the value upon a deposit that was partially refundable as long as I didn't put a certain amount of miles on it and didn't damage it in any way of course. I do not believe this car is worth the price they ask for it. Having rode in a Maybach the quality of this car is nothing mind blowing to where one should pay 700 thousand dollars. The drive and noise cancelation is a thing of beauty and I would say no car tops this in that aspect but they definitely come close to it for much less. The presence of this car is definitely one of a kind but I promise you. This car has one hell of a presence but I urge you to go stand around any car that cost this much which doesn't have presence or intimidation. Even the 980 does. Moving on. It definitely has some amazing unique features to it but 700k no. This car should be no more than 400k fully loaded in my opinion. I get that you're paying cause it's such a prestigious car but I guess I'm just not rich enough yet to buy a vehicle based off of name alone. I'll e continue to save money and see if I can purchase a gemera
