As soon as you turned on the Truck I just thought “Timing-Belt tensioner.” We have the plenty of Honda/Acura vehicles with their venerable J-series V6. And the timing-belt tensioner noise is a good indication that the timing-belt job is needed.

Thanks for the video Have you had any experience with the Aisin timing belt kits ?

No. I have not used them because our area mainly has Bando, Gates or Dayco but I certainly would not be against it. When I do a T-belt most OE parts I see are branded Aisin. I always prefer OE in most cases and you can see why in my Nissan valve cover video. You only want to do it once! I would not hesitate to use Aisin. on occasion non OE parts can be a pain but you are right for asking around. kzitem.info/news/bejne/24ye1KCFqHeZe2kfeature=shared

The end of the video sounds exactly like my pilot and still sounds like it’s ticking

Should it sound like that or needs valve adjustment?

Mines like that too n rattles whenever i step on the gas pedal. Does your pilot rattle when you step on the gas? I was told its a bad serpentine belt tensioner. But not sure

Hello my 2012 pilot makes the same noise but only when I start it in the morning and then goes away in about 3 min. Would it be the same thing ?

Same thing, your car needs new timing belt and tensioner. When the engine get hot, engine block expands and the timing belt adjust better, that's why noise disappear when hot. But eventually the engine block don't expand enough to adjust the belt and the noise get worse and worse. Your engine could get out of timing with extensive damaged, and repair is so expensive that is worth replacing the engine.

That is a good question. I could not say for sure and definitely don't want to steer you in the wrong direction. The reply from dconde78 is something to take into account. I would definitely have someone you trust look at it before it becomes a costly repair.

Mine is making a noise just like the repair at end of the video. Apparently, that must be normal. I know the timing belt and water pump were replacedabout 50k miles ago. No oil leaks or oil burning at 238k miles.

That is loud. Got dang. Mine makes a noise almost similar but not that loud. And it sounds like the end of the video. So i guess my car is fine? However, whenever i step on the gas it increases the rattle noise. Some folks are saying bad serpentine belt tensioner.

The tensioner can make a noise like this too. just take the belt off and if it goes away you are in the ballpark. I have seen tensioners on this model do this many times.

@@ricol7964timing tensioner was replaced, ticking noise got quieter but it is still ticking and gets louder when i accelerate. Was told my serpentine tensioner is good. And could be rocker arms. My mechanic suggested me to use seafoam prior to every oil changes (1,000 miles) since there are a crap ton of sludge build ups inside. Like lots of build ups. He stated no damage. Do you think this will get rid of the ticking noise once i go through a few oil changes? Did an oil change a month and a half ago. About to do another one. 😢 i really hope this helps. The previous owner definitely did not do maintenance on the vehicle. Cant believe i didnt notice this ticking when i purchased it from Honda. They mustve poured Lucas oil in the engine to quiet it down smh...sigh....please help
