We have this exact leak on the right side of our 2008 Fit. I saw the drip marks. I marked the drip mark lines with a Sharpie so I would be able to remember where the leaks are coming in. I am going to try Flex Seal and see if that works. I got the liquid Flex Seal you paint on, and the spray on Flex Seal. I am going to try and seal outside in the same areas as the video, but also try to remove the trim piece that is on top of the roof and seal there too. I also figured out that the water that is pooling inside, not only drips into the spare tire wheel well, but also travels along the interior edge to drip into the rear seat floor board. This leak has been going on a looong time in our car. Hopefully we can get it under control.
@EddieCarrara1

Hi Amanda, the flex seal should work, and you should have it under control very soon. The water leaks into the back seat because when you're braking, the water rushes forward.

@amandaenloe3100
5 жыл бұрын
@@sylinca the liquid Flex Seal is working. We may have to re-apply later. The spray flex seal is useless for this. The spray flex seal dries very thin and easily peels off. Use the liquid. We also removed the two weather stripping rubber pieces on the roof that go along the outside edge of the roof. Those are the long hard rubber strips that go from the front of the car to the rear hatch. That allowed us to apply the liquid flex seal where the small cracks are occurring in that trough where the weather stripping rubber pieces used to be.

Hi Lisa, The 3M brushable seam sealer is the best product to use, it's what they use at the factory, just be sure you clean the area with rubbing alcohol first, it acts like a primer and the seam sealer sticks extremely well and lasts for years. amzn.to/2H4LGD9

Thanks for posting this. I have a 2007 Honda Fit base model and it was leaking. I just sealed it. Hope I got all the cracks. I dried the hatch out by the tire with a towel and ran a dehumidifier in it all day. When I got back to it 8 hours later the cup is now dry so now I'm running the Ozone machine to get rid of the marky mark and the funky bunch. Does this stuff dry or cure at all or is it always a mushy goo?

If you used a body seam sealer it should skim over in 1 hour and can be painted when fully cured, so you could literally use touch up paint to blend it after it's completely dry. Did it dry completely?

If you look in these areas and you find cracks in the seam sealer and water trails in the areas shown, most likely this is your problem, the sunroof drains are located in the rear quarter panels on each side of the hatch area and sometimes you car pull the rubber plugs out of the spare tire well to drain most of the water. Let me know if you have more questions.

Interesting. I've a 2013 Honda Jazz (as the Fit is called in the UK). My leak seams to be coming from the front a pillar where the roof liner meets the plastic a pillar trim.. I'm going to have a look underneath the roof trim at the front :-)
@EddieCarrara1

Hi Brian, Most likely the sunroof drains (if you have one) are clogged and water is spilling over the sunroof tray onto the top of the headliner. The headliner has a water resistant backing so it would take a while for the water to soak through, but it will leak at the pillar trim seam. Let me know if this helps.

Hi Susan, most of the panel is held on by plastic clips located on the edge of each panel. @@mitchellbrown-silveira9213 Yes it's for the side panels. The screws are usually hidden under little plastic covers and in the jack storage area. You first need to remove the spare tire cover and carpet, then the rubber trim from around the hatch door opening, remove the center plastic trim cover where the hatch striker is, then start to pry the panel off clip by clip with a trim tool if possible.
