I'm 60 years old and ditched my big fat cruiser for a super low mileage 2009 KLX250SF that I got for a steal of a deal. Because I got it cheap, I turned mine into a light adventure bike with the following mods: T-Rex windshield * Doubletake (ram mount style) mirrors * Barkbuster hand guards * Dual Hella horns * Seat Concepts wider seat * Replaced every bulb with LED bulbs * full Yoshimura exhaust system * rear fender eliminator * Rear rack * Nanuk 918 Hard case * GUB Motorcycle phone holder * Rotopax gas container The bike is amazing and handles like a dream. It's loud enough and bright enough (with all LED's) to be seen and heard in traffic. I'm too old to be cracking wheelies anymore, but this bike sure is a lot of fun. It really is the perfect bike to make you feel young again, especially when you don't give a damn about being "one of the crowd" with all the rest of the old men with their overpriced Harley's. Some have even told me (on the side, of course) that they want one, too! Bottom line, if you want a fun little bike that handles great with the ability to hit some light trails every now and then... this is your bike! I started out on RM's and YZ's back in the late 70's.The KLX250SF has been a nice revisit to those fun days of my youth.

Just acquired 3 of these bikes. Got one running yesterday, tomorrow will be another, the 3rd will be a parts bike. These were US military bikes, SEALS?? RECON?? not sure but they do have a lot of RED sand on them. 1600 miles or less on each. They are painted all flat black, like EVERYTHING is flat black. Should be fun on the streets of Coos Bay Oregon, Libby here I come!! Bonsai!! And getting to school and running around town. Cant wait!!

I have never heard about the military having these! No clue what the sand would be. Great but it sounds like!

Are you sure you're not confusing these with the KLR250. Different bike that actually used by the military

I agree with his assessment. I got my bike to have a little fun around town, that is all. I am retired and did not want a sport bike and didn't want a big cruiser. This was a happy medium. I would add that 1. bike needs a 3 or 3.5 gallon gas tank. You cant drive long distances on just 2 gallons. 2. mirrors need to be 3 or 4 inches longer and slightly wider. 3. Bike needs a gas gauge, and a gear position indicator would be nice. 4 the pouch behind the seat needs to be larger, or metal and locking. I keep my owners manual and insurance card, plus a 5/16 nut driver in it. It has been a fine motorcycle for me, and I am happy to have it. It makes me feel like I am 15 years old again.

How did you like the bike overall? I'm looking into buying a supermoto for my first bike within the week. I was thinking of buying the new Kawasaki KLX 300sm, but then I just came across the 250SF on facebook marketplace for $3700 and thought it would be a great buy instead of buying new

It was fun, but the shaved seat was a bit low for me. The owner is super short so like make the bike fit you. But comparing this to a wr250 that I rode (also made a video) I prefer the wr. It was a bit faster overall. I would definitely suggest A used bike for your first bike, just Be cautious of poor ownership (non matching hardware, looks beat up, sounds bad).

i would say so. Howeer, this particular one had a shaved seat and I believe was lowered some. So I can't say about stock.

In my opinion, maybe? If i'm riding around town then yes. If im going on golf courses or down stairs in parks then no.
