We saw a lot of these in the Schoharie Valley of upstate NY. But, they had not broken through the surface. From inside the caves you look up this smooth silo going up 200 feet and there is maybe 10 feet of top soil covering the silo. The ground gets spongey and when it goes, it just goes The entire ground drops and you fall 200 feet to the cave floor Really dangerous When we were building I-88 we had to bring in thousands of truckloads of boulders to fill these things in so we could pour concrete in and make a stable environment to build the highway. The entire area is a massive maze of thousands of miles of caves

They won’t wear gas meters! They just won’t! I see multiple comments on every vid saying gas meters and spotters and even some of them that the boys have liked which means they saw them. They just won’t wear any cave safety equipment. They won’t even bring miners torches in case their lights die. These boys are gonna go missing someday if they don’t get their heads out of their arse. 😢

You guys should be using an air quality monitor that warns of gasses or even Co2 buildup from your own breathing . It also wouldn't hurt to use a good respirator. Breathing in fungus or mold spores can really do a number on your lungs. Mold infections in the lungs are often NOT detected by doctors unless they're specifically looking for mold caused ailments. Be VERY careful in places like that where even one accidentally dislodged rock can pin you so that you can't extricate yourself. Headache and a scratchy throat are warning signs that should NOT be ignored. If you're underground and start getting a headaches that's a good time to turn around and get good quality caving equipment before venturing further in. Failure to do that might eventually lead to winning a Darwin Award.

Hydrogen sulfide also. Smells like rotten eggs until it numbs your sense of smell. Released from under mud. Decaying organic matter causes it and yes, it's toxic. I don't remember if they use an oxygen monitor but they really should. Pushing their luck quite often.
@HowDoYouSeeIt
5 күн бұрын
Methane in odorless, it was likely hydrogen sulfide which has a stong rotten egg smell and is formed in sulfer deposits that get bacteria in them it is also fatal in high doses when they were complaining about their throat and eyes that is in fact one of the things it attacks mucus membranes. They say if you are in a cave or a mine to never walk in stagnant water because the gas can be trapped inside and by breaking the surface you let it escape, these guys got extremely lucky with this one in my opinion.
