Isn't it great that current singers can draw inspiration from the all time greats. No comparisons should be made, it's not a competition. With Cecile, her honesty and sincerity for the songs shines through. Love it and just enjoy.

This brilliant voice is so refreshing! And I side more with the Billy and Ella side of her tone and her ability to stay in perfect tune! Dammmm! Her range is what reminds me of Ella also.She reminds me of Billy when she boarders talking and sining in one phrase. My son turned me on to her.

All of those magnificent tunes will remain alive and well with Cecile leading a new generation of jazz vocalists. She's doubtlessly inspired by Ella, but she can do so much with that gorgeous voice and sophisticated style. Meanwhile, I'ml happily content listening to her evocations of Ella, Sarah, Dina, Billie and Carmen

No, it's a blues. Jazz is more intellectual.
@terriwilliams6004
9 жыл бұрын
+Wal Ada No, it's emotional and Americans are puritans and cannot accept the uninhibited freedom of expression that Black people can evoke. Jazz was invented by Black people and we embody that freedom that so mystifies and scares the American puritanical sensibilities. Europeans are more welcoming of that and therefore embrace jazz. While the European senses will intellectualize jazz, it comes from the soul, not the brain.

+Terri Williams And I recently mentioned Herbie Hancock? He denies everything: analyzing the music almost under the microscope (he was trained as a mathematician and engineer of a precision machinery) and constructed their songs almost mathematical precision, and composed of precision bordering on deliberately (so white ...? Ha-ha). Only we Europeans cry with his music, ha-ha (well ... black? Ha-ha).
