Great video, I found a company in Cali that installs replaceable joints for rebiulding later when one fails. Half the price. This isn't a part you want from a junk yard anyway. I found rust dust around the failed joint cap.

Great video - thanks for taking the time to make it! I am just starting to feel some vibration around the 60-100 kph range. Most likely the drive shaft. It is a 2011 with 210,000 km but not as well maintained as yours was when I bought it. Fortunately, I too am in the Ottawa area so I will be calling that shop tomorrow to get an estimate. Thanks again!

I have the same issues, I was diagnosing it to be either the torque converter or my driveshaft. I’m gonna take your advice and go for driveshaft first since it’s way cheaper, thanks for the great video 👍

Does yours get better around 80mph 120Km/H? I get a wicked vibration from 20-40mph and then it smooths out. Then when you let off the gas it gets worse as it decelerates
@bradstoybox8811
2 ай бұрын
Yes the vibration was worst around 30 mph and got less noticeable above that. I didn't notice the deceleration vibe as I removed it right away and had it rebuilt. This was also two years ago so I don't remember all the fine details. @@lovemym16

Holy Cow! Just experienced this with my own MDX with the same situation. Sat for a long long time while I replaced rings and bearings. A week back on the road and the vibration had me spooked. Not brakes or bearings. Vibration at about 45mph and continued when I popped it into neutral and coasting. Seemed to be heaviest when decelerating, almost thought the engine was stalling but it was just the vibration slowly going away. Of course I haven't pulled mine out yet, but this explains A LOT!

Just curious, wouldn't it be easier to just buy brand new aftermarket OE driveshaft made by DORMAN for $600USD? Trying to understand pros/cons of replacing u-join by a local shop vs. new OE aftermarket driveshaft. Yeah, it's little cheaper from prices i am reading on this thread to have a shop rebuild but not a huge difference to get a brand new part. Just my personal experience... I don't trust mechanics that much, they tend to break something else while trying to fix what they're paid to do.

You have to understand that I'm in Canada and so everything costs us way more up here. The dealer way way over 1k to replace the shaft, I didn't see a doorman shaft advertised at th etime I was looking but evenif it was, that would be 1k in Canadian dollars by the time it was shipped. So $600 Canadian with warranty is a deal IMHO.

I have the 08 MDX with 135k miles, bought it last week. I didnt notice any noise but now I can hear some squeak after I brake, when I start to accelerate the car. I also hear a faint vibration/scratching noise under the car body when I put it in park, but this noise would come for 2s then gone for 3s rather than constantly on. Would appreciate any insights from my fellow mdx owners😢

@@ajetimusliu8408 The vibration and scratching kind of sounds like rain I got used to that and it might have been gone and I didn't even notice, the squeaking was due to a loose stability link. My car is hard to start after a couple days and I suspect there's some issue with oil pressure but I don't know anything for sure yet.

@bradstoybox8811

Not a silly question. My engine was burining oil like crazy and then it suffered a piston failure that damaged the cylinder wall. You can't repair these blocks so I found a low mileage replacement.
