As a european I am completely mesmerized by the CV. If we ever had full size body-on-frame sedans in Europe that have been gone for decades. I love the simplicity of this Ford, and the fact that it was built very solid, very reliable car. Built to last. Love the old skool definition of luxury: not who has the most electronic gizmo's, just plush seats, a smooth ride, a quiet engine and transmission, and lots of space inside. My want for a Crown Vic is strong!

I can't help but realize how endearing the Ford Crown Victoria is. Perhaps it's because I've seen it so many times in TV shows, movies, and video games, but after watching this video, it makes sense why police departments would choose such a car to get the job done. For me though, I'm probably old fashioned in terms of the Crown Victoria's looks. It really takes me way back during those childhood days where the echoes of the 80's and 90's haunted the first few years of my life, and It's also enough for someone much older than I am to be "Driven to Tears" if you know what I mean. :)

I own a 98' Crown Vic LX myself. Owned by a church before me, and it had very low mileage when I bought it in June this year - to the tune of 84,000. Looks almost the same as this one in the video, save for the radio, steering wheel, window controls, and speedo/tach. I'm modifying the appearance a lot, however. I replaced the chrome grille with the P71 honeycomb grille - looks much nicer, black on black. I also took off the chrome bumper impact strips. In the process of blacking out the rest of the chrome on the car now, which is a pain, but it looks much more sleek.

I used to have a 2006 Crown Vic. It was one of the best cars I ever owned! Granted, I am getting a little better mileage on my 2014l Mustang GT. The only reason I parted with the Crown Victoria is that a neighbor, who had dementia (who should not have driving), lost control of her har and plowed into my Crown Victoria with a force strong enough to send it on a 90 degree tailspin and bend the frame. I lost a beautiful vehicle as a result of another persons gross negligence. As previously stated, that individual should not have been driving. The insurance adjuster told me that the car was a total. Fortunately, I was no where near the vehicle when it was hit. I was in my apartment packing my bags to go do a photo shoot in St. Augustine. The Crown Victoria was my ride! It had 75,000 miles before the accident. It was repaired twice. The first repair required the replacement of a brake light switch. The second was the replacement of a power window regulator on the dirver's door. I am sure that had the vehicle not been involved in that accident it would have lasted 200,000 to 250,000, possibly 300,000 miles. I will say, though a smaller vehicle, I have become very happy with my Mustang. Though the 5.0 Liter engine produces over 400 horsepower, it actually does provide a little better mileage than the Crown Victoria. Around town I get 18.5 mpg vs 16. Like the Crown Vic, I can run the GT on REGULAR!

I used to have a 2003 CVPI. Paid $6k for it and it was quite a bundle of stuff to fix but it was a good car for a college student. Sold it a little over a year ago for a 2012 Chevy Impala. For the fact I sold my Vic for essentially two car payments, I wish I had kept it. Impala just doesn't have the personality of the Vic. As a side note, if you get one that's an ex-rental that's in good shape and low miles, KEEP IT IN GOOD SHAPE. Put it in the garage in winter. Change the fluids, don't beat up on the wheels. Given how cars are built today, one need only to look at the B-body Chevys to see in 10-12 years, lots of people will see these beautiful cars - and see $$$ also.

crackparty Well, keep in mind this was 2008, it had 66,700 miles on it, and for the most part was in perfect shape. You can buy them for cheaper but expect them to be thoroughly thrashed (this one was an unmarked nonpatrol from a rich neighborhood; no holes or such and was kept in good shape.) And in all honesty, I have good credit and was paying practically nothing for a car payment. To each his own, I guess.

Haha no prob, no prob. Actually, in truth, it also depends on where you live. My Vic's issue was not the powertrain, but body rust after 10 PA winters outside. If you're down in the South or (especially) the West out of the smog areas, odds are you can have a 2003 or 2004 Vic that's still in good shape. It's sad now that they don't make them any more because I know they are good cars and when shopping for them, always be choosy...Ford built like 100,000 a year or something, and a lot of them can be dyno kings, too :)

If I recall correctly, a 2011 Crown Victoria LX doesn't exist... After 2008 Ford only made the police interceptors and then was discontinued all together in 2011. Either you're wrong or I'm wrong but just saying that's what I read up.
@Johnnyjonas274
8 жыл бұрын
It's true. For some reason they did make the LX in 2011. You can spit them cause they had the black section on the rear trunk like the P-71, but had the chrome trim along the bottom of the trunk and tail lights like a civilian model. They didn't make a whole lot of them. Trust me. I've lived in these thing for thirty years and do all the ordering for my PD.
@xXViK1NGXx

Very interesting! I totally thought they only made the P71/P7B after 2008, I wonder why FoMoCo decided to reboot the lx for 2011, any guesses? Maybe like an attempt to bring it back?
@Johnnyjonas274
8 жыл бұрын
I don't know. I heard they were Ford Executive models, whatever that means. You can't tell by this one pictured because it is black, but I remember seeing a white new looking one in 2011 and it had the black section on the rear trunk between the tail lights like the police "Patrol" package ones had. The trunk of the civilian versions were color coded to the car. But, it had the chrome grill and strip under the tail lights/trunk, which the police package ones did not have. It also did not have the chrome trim in the grove on the front/rear bumpers. That was only deleted after a few years on the Patrol packages to save money and some PDs started putting reflective striping inside the grove. I should say that the Patrol police packages did not have. There was an Admin police package that had a street appearance option, meaning split bench seats, carpeted interior, chrome grill and bumper moldings, full length door moldings like the one above and full wheel covers and a color coded trunk. The 2011 LX also had the alloy rims like the one above. It was basically a hybrid and didn't add up until I asked a guy from Ford who told me that they did make make a limited run of LX models for the last year of the Vics. Not sure how many they made.

P71/P7Bs have a ton of different upgrades and the engine HP is 15 HP more usually and the transmission is different. Just the engine add difference is cop ones have oil cooler and larger radiator and much bigger out put alternator and larger battery. Suspension is way different....1 inch lower and bigger sway bars more bushings under frame on body, brake system is larger and better, control arms are better, axle is different gear set up and shifts later and quicker for transmission and has a separate transmission cooler and highway departments have a fire suppression system in the rear of the car for fires....and police departments only paid 26k for em lol. Police departments now are paying 40-52k for the current police cars lol.

It's definitely an older design, but that's part of why I like it so much. It's just a simple, no frills, easy to live with full-size American sedan.

P74's also have dual exhaust as well. They're like half civilian half cop car. Think of it as a luxurious P71, P74's are the best kinda you can get with air suspension and everything. I have one myself

Interesting car and review, but technology-wise this car was lagging behind almost ten years from 2011. The MFD with the digital speedometer is nice though, I need to figure out how to get this working on my car. Also I'm a huge fan of beige interiour. It looks elegant and these interiour colour is quite uncommon in Europe.

Interesting... Those 4.6 engines are usually bulletproof. But, I'm sure it didn't live a very easy life in the police force.

Technically some p71s do have a chrome grill when they get the street appearence package, I know because I have one thats coded p71 but has a chrome grill and like all p71s the speedometer is 140 and the trunk button is in the center dash and it has the disc light on the ceiling. Oh yeah and the duel exhaust.

RCGCarReviews it still hauls ass too hehe! Awesome car it is a real mans car imo not like some pussy ass douchebag driving BMW 325i. This thing sounds mean revving up and driving at highspeeds in the highway I sometimes turn off my radio just to listen to the V-8 roaring, it sounds just like a mustang!
