Rose got stuck in a position where they had no time to adjust to what Miami was doing - and they had no other easy option to go to, making Rose look even worse. I'm more interested to see what happens next year w/ a whole summer to improve on their team offense.

@sagelord87 @AznOnTheMoon Great conversation, guys. Remember, boneheaded plays are just 1 of 6 kinds of things that contributed to their loss in the conference finals. At this level, you can't hope to win and move on if you make that many. Carlos Boozer committing a flagrant foul is a good example of stupidity - and the guy did it again the next game.
@bballbreakdown

@SquishyCandyftw I think Haslem does all the things nobody else on the Heat want to do - great hedges, good defensive rotations, and can hit the open shot. He makes them VERY tough - AND he's got championship experience
@bballbreakdown

@godonio84 @Moggs24 Thanks! And it's not my way or the highway, really. It's a conversation! The point of showing you the refs calls is that benefiting from dubious calls in your favor is a necessary component in these series. I don't think anyone will argue how bad the officiating was for the Bulls in Game 5 - just brutal, and it certainly helped the Heat stay close enough to pull it out in the end. Coach NIck
@bballbreakdown

@supermanXL Even then, he still needs to develop some actual moves on offense - inside out dribble, crossover pull up. That charge on Brewer in Game 4 was a perfect example - he just barrels into guys and tries to knock them over.

@Cordwinder I don't think I would've labeled Kidd's 3 a bonehead play - he flared and was wide open, and then the shot fake got him an open shot. I do think he's not really a shooter, even if he is ranked so high in 3 point makes. I think the point of Dirk's crazy shot is that great players find a way - and you need that in the playoffs.
@bballbreakdown

@ZoomZip I couldn't foresee Haslem coming back and playing. I've been saying since he got injured that if he comes back, the Heat win the championship - and it appears it'll happen again this year.

@bballbreakdown
13 жыл бұрын
@mikenugo The Bulls were fractions of an inch away from winning 2 of those games, so there's not too much they have to improve. I think the offense will get better by simply having another year to work on their games. I doubt they'll be able to make a move that will help them with a trade, so they just need to figure out how to minimize Boozer's brutal play.

When two top-5 caliber players (future legends/HOFers most likely) break out in that one year and lead their teams to a deep run in the playoffs, it always ends in heartbreak. There's a strong possibility (and the NBA is banking on it) that Rose and Durant will become future rivals for many years. You couldn't find two better players and kids to represent a league.

@N0CAPE This is something that mystifies me as well! The good teams have continuity, but at least half the league resorts to pick and roll on the ball the second the first option doesn't play out like it should. It's a recipe for mediocrity, since the top defensive teams can take away enough shots to beat those teams 8 out of 10 times.

@bballbreakdown I think the Mavs can stop the Heat. Clearly, David Stern instructed the refs to help the Thunder win, but the Mavs simply outplayed them, so the refs didn't even matter. To be able to overcome the refs like that, gives me a lot of confidence in Dallas.

Dallas this season averaged 23.8 assists on 37.4 made field goals, having an assist on almost 64% of its baskets. OKC averaged 20.4 assists on also 37.4 field goals, a 54% clip. Which loosely means OKC iso-ed 46% of the time! You're not going to win a championship playing that way.

They do that, they easily have a shot. I can't think of any other way to put it; they do well in 3 quarters, then fall apart in the 4th. Come on, Thibodeau.

@sagelord87 I'm not saying Lebron isn't a great defender nor am I saying Rose should have been MVP. But I do disagree with you on him being overrated. He made it this far with a skidish offensive supporting cast and mediocore inside presence. Without Rose the bulls probably would be barely pushing .500 nevermind eastern conference semi finals. If you gave Rose a dominate C., Forward or a more agressive SG then this would be a totally different series.
@leadoffeohippus
13 жыл бұрын
@bballbreakdown Haha well they're so so young and I'm sure they can fix things the next couple seasons. Miami is also a low-assist team, but I'm willing to cut them some slack because they don't have a passing big man; Anthony only averages .3 assists. I do have an issue with Orlando's offense, because Howard CAN PASS, but you have Turkoglu, Nelson, and occasionally J-Rich jacking up hero shots.

You answered your own question in the first 35seconds. Thunder and Bulls both young team. They will learn from this experience and will be regulars in the playoffs in the coming years. Kidd's 3? You would have labeled it a bonehead if he had missed it. Remember you also said he's a below average 3point shooter. Dirk off balance shot going in? If those were missed you would have scientifically analyzed his jump shot and make it THE reason why the Mavs will never win a championship.

I always enjoy your breakdowns, but you really did not have to throw the refs in their. Yes those were both bad calls, but do you want to go through the entire 48 minutes and show all the bad calls for both teams. Also in live action I thought the play with Dirk was a foul largely b/c of his flopping. As far as Lebron goes they allow him to travel a lot with out calling it, I don't know why.

@XxreyrayxX09 Rose simply relies on his athleticism and advantage over his defenders to score, and do what he does. Same with Durant, teams simply watched him in the regular season. Since the first round, Darren Collison gives him trouble, and of course Paul George. Then now with the Miami defense has shown how easy it is to guard him. You kidding me, Kobe gets MVP when shooting sub40% and everyone's on his ass. Rose does the same and no one cares? Please.
