The one followed after that would be the engines for the four cylinders dunking up and causing a massive failures. Later on there are issues with RAV4 hybrids not filling up all the way. I mean the list goes on, like I said the newer there are more problems that seem to occur. The best ones are Avalon, all red trucks/SUVs. Only thing outside of routine maintenance and fluid changes was two alternators and a water pump and a heater core. I still got 28 MPG when I wrecked it. At 350K I replaced shocks and struts and ball joints. Car was in mint condition. No rust problems in the southeast. Interior had no rips or tears. For PCV valve it’s under air intake manifold. You can access it from left side of the bay. 14mm ratchet and extensions. To put the new one I found a way that takes little more work but can be done at home. Remove the engine mount on that side and then lift the engine with jack. Then insert new PCV valve in the hose that connects on it and spin the hose to thread the valve back on the motor. Took me about 2 hours not removing things just struggling to get the new one on😂. And took me about 10 minutes to relive the old one. And guess what the old one wasn’t bad either according to the dealer I bought new one from. If you shake it and it makes noise it’s good lol. And new one and old one made same noise. Since I had it out I replaced it anyway. No difference in oil consumption it still burned oil. Don’t waste your time and money. I had 200k miles on mine when I did this and didn’t help. I also did the timing chain and tensioner and guides and all. That also didn’t help with burning oil. I had misfire in cylinder 3. End up tearing engine down installed new piston and rings and machined the head and don’t forget to change the cam sprocket if you do end up getting this work done. That initial knocking noise at startup is from that sprocket. Once all that done my car isn’t burning oil no knocking no engine light. Basically rides like new. These cars are known to have burning oil issue after 100k. Well most of them do so just know when buying one that at some point you will be dealing with this stuff if you aren’t already. But I spent $2000 in repairs which I did the labor so saved some money. Expect $4k with labor. I would say still worth it. Because you can’t go find this Camry for $4k that doesn’t have any of these issues. Or any car you buy for $4k will not have issue. My $2k was well spent in my opinion as this car will run again for another 100k miles with just a oil change, gas, breaks and tires.

The 2011 se won’t ever fail. Mine is at about 110,000 miles and still wakes up the neighborhood every morning. Doubt it’ll have engine problems for another 50k miles at least.

To me, there are few things more satisfying than a high mileage vehicle. It speaks volumes about the owner(s). Because no matter how legendary a make or model is with regards to reliability and/or longevity, it means little if the owner(s) aren’t conscientious about maintenance. I bought my 2018 Honda Civic EXT new on June 18 2018. It’s a 1.5 liter, turbo, GDI, CVT. Now I hear from many “experts” that i bought the worst combination of engine and transmission for reliability and longevity. Well, I’m going to put that sentiment to the test. After 4 1/2 years and 129,500 trouble free miles averaging 34.1 mpg I have little to complain about. With exceptional maintenance, my goal is to hit 300,000 miles without repair to the engine, turbo, or CVT. The key for me is maintenance, early and often.

Have you changed transmission fluid at all? At least the rust is in areas where the part can be easily changed out. Car Care Nut on here shows a short cut on changing the pcv valve where you remove part wheel well on the passenger side front. Although this was on a 12-17 Camry but yours should be similar since it has the same engine. I have a '12 Camry LE with 100k on her.

Changed tranny fluid at 250k and I should do it again, and I should probably do it more often. I think I have seen that video as I did a bunch of research on the PCV valve. Only issue is the power steering pump being in the way on the 2011s.

@@Sn0Pro7 usually Toyotas are easy to work on so that was wierd design to see but hey power steering is more bulletproof than electric in the long run. Electric with Toyotas last a while but something goes wrong it’s very expensive to fix since it’ll be electric at least power steering is easier to diagnose.

@@robmalcolm8042 yes sir. 0 to 250k then I learned that the tranny is not truly "sealed" and the fluid could be changed.

@@Sn0Pro7 toyota aisins are very strong probably the best transmissions out there but they do have to change the fluid probably 60-100k at most. I got a Prius 07 with the bulletproof Ecvt transmission and the fluid has never been changed at almost 240,000 miles but a mechanic told me not to since it’s black but on forums and online I heard you can change a electronic cvt from Toyota tranny anytime because it’s not having parts like a traditional automatic that you can change it at any mileage

my mom had a 2006 highlander, it had 301,000 miles on it when we got rid of it, it needed new wheel bearings and the batteries where starting to go out. if you take care of them Toyotas will run forever.
