Trotz 3 sec Kupplung hat der ICE Verspätung; das ist beim THSR fast nie der Fall. Ausserdem ist der Takt viel kürzer als bei der DB. Die 7 Lokführer der DB (Leiharbeiter) bei THSR kommen da schön ins schwitzen!

because in Europe, High speed rail often links to different routes, but in Taiwan, there is one and only route which is north and south. also the platform was not designed to be used for two carriages therefore attach and detach carriages is not often to be used, and auto-attach system can cost a lot for maintenance, so government decided to make it manual instead of automatic.

Why bother with an expensive automatic mechanism that is rarely going to be used? The only shinkansen that need automatic mechanisms are the ones that regularly couple with mini-shinkansens on the Tohoku line.
