Peace of mind is absolutely priceless. When your typical BMW 7 series, MB S class reaches 8 or 9 years old and things start to go bad, it will cost huge amounts of money to keep them roadworthy. At the same time, the Lexus driver will just wave as he drives past those dealerships.

Anyone who is familiar with the Lexus brand knows the difference between them and their Toyota counterpart. Others who either cant afford a Lexus or just like to say "Thats an over-priced Avalon" clearly don't have a full understanding of the cars. Also; those same uninformed consumers that have never had the pleasure or amenities that are offered at a high-end luxury dealership. There is a reason why Lexus has the highest retention of customers than any other car brand (62%)

I traded in my Lexus GS 350 AWD for the 460 L AWD and wow what an amazing difference in room ,comfortand outrstanding handling with faster 0-60 . I traded in my ES ES 350 FWD for the GS and now owning the flag ship of the Lexis line it put my 560 SEL Mercedes to shame in handling and safety. Very roomy and the selection of driving modes make it a lot of fun to drive. 8 speed transmission is smooth down or upshifting and the rear seat is great when you want to rest and have a back marsarge

I agree that some of Lexus's car don't share platform anymore, like IS and RX, since Toyota doesn't make Altezza and Harrier anymore. However LX and LS I believed are still based on LC200 and Crown Majesta respectively, they have different ext-int style and engine obviously but when you look both vehicle side to side, well... I'm not sure about ES, GS, and CT since they're not common in my country. And the 2013 is just a heavy facelift from the previous 2012 and 2008 LS in my eyes...

problem with these Japanese cars is the headroom. yeah its the long wheel base but what is the point of a long wheel base if people over 6 feet talls head hits the roof lol. one downfall of lexus, their lack of headroom for tall people. If you are more than 6 feet tall, you may not feel that comfortable in a lexus due to the lack of head room

So what's the road noise like in one of these beasts? Leasing a 2013 Avalon Touring (which is a waste since I returned to Afghanistan) but I've always wanted an LS460. The Avalon is nice but on rough roads it can be a bit loud. Don't know if any car can battle crappy roads but hoping the luxury cars have better chances of doing so.

Spending that kind of money on something to get from A-B is not sensible, there for it makes more sense to have high quality buttons and trim in the car, after all its the attention to detail that defines luxury not the raw numbers on paper, and that's the market the LS is in. Great car but maybe not as sensible as they say.

16 mpg city, 24 highway is not so affordable. A Toyota Prius is less than half the cost, has lots of room, and you get 50 miles to the gallon in COMBINED driving. I'm not the biggest Toyota Prius fan. And I never considered myself a 'Scrooge McDuck.' But why would you pay over $60,000. for a car, when you know you are going to have to deal with heavy fuel consumption on top of that?
@docluv14
10 жыл бұрын
Im not being a jerk but Why would you review a car; full well knowing that it costs nearly 70,000? That seems like an exercise in futility. **When you get a chance, stop by a Toyota dealership, then go to a Lexus dealership. The level of service at a Lexus dealership is nearly the same level of comfort as a Rolls Royce dealership (not kidding). You certainly get what you pay for.
@eternalhalloween1

John Sneddon Well, not to sound like Scrooge McDuck. but who wants only 16 / 24 these days with gas prices what they are? I'd rather pay $33,000. for the Prius knowing that I'm getting 50 miles to the gallon. That's a case where the money you're saving on gas will help you get back some of the money you spent on the car. Check out Jeff Gluck on his Auto Bytel review of the Toyota Prius. I know the Hyundai Elantra is by no means in the same class. But even there, you're getting a decent car that gets about 40 miles to the gallon.
@SylvanTieger

Safety and Luxery thats why. If you can afford $100,000 I hardly think fuel is even a consideration. Why not get a mo ped and get 300 miles per gallon?

Sylvan Tieger I see your point. But some people also have the attitude that because they have it, doesn't mean they should be wasting it. I don't know if you have ever had a car that drinks way too much, but it does get depressing. I like how the Toyota Prius gives you an impressive 50 mpg. And the Hyundai Elantra is a nice looking car that gives you 40 mpg. .

And to all those who complain about the LS being a bore to drive... Maybe it is. But it is a large, heavy, luxury sedan! The primary emphasis is suppose to be on luxury/comfort. What, do you expect all Rolls Royce's, Bentley's, and Maybach's to be as zippy and fun to drive as an Aventador? -_-

Now that's a better review than many. Finally, he didn't say this car is luxurious but can't handle like the european cars so it doesn't worth buying it. I am glad that there are some people, car reviewers, who can appreciate a good product. Of course the consumers has more sense then most car reviewers because they keep on buying good products regardless to those half ass reviewers. This reviewer sometimes give false facts about cars, the engine choice, etc. but his mentality is right.

Pedro, peace of mind really is priceless at that price range. You can't keep these cars after their warranties expire, except Lexus. We had to change an engine component on a 2004 BMW 760L; $8000. Meanwhile the 1990 ES has never had anything go wrong. The next gen Lexuses should advance the fun to drive characteristic a bit
