I have taken head bolts in order before but talk to a machinist it doesnt need to take the heat bolts off the way they are tightened. When you have stretched head or one time use bolts it don't warp the head. I just take those bolts out from front to back and never had an issue with warped head. When you bolt back down needs to be done in order. Have done many different motor builds and never had a warped issue. But I never over heat a motor either. Cooling system and brakes are the first thing I ever change on a vehicle. You never go cheap on those parts!

Where do you get replacement parts? I’ve almost finished tearing it down, currently at the timing chains, I’m pretty sure it’s a spun rod bearing. Does someone offer a “master rebuild kit” with gaskets, head & bearing bolts, wear parts,…etc? Love your videos, you’ve already saved me some headaches!!! I’m sure everyone would love, I mean NEED, you putting a 3.8 back together. A good shot of the timing marks and an explanation of the “degrees” for torquing the heads would be a god send. Thanks, Paul

Before timing chain is broke down, should we be at 1st cylinder/top dead center ? Is this a big deal?

Allow me to answer this: Before putting it all back together, bore the throttle body and polish to chrome. Also remove every casting line throughout every other piece, all the way down and into the exhaust manifold. Then port and polish everything! It took me 4 full days to do this stuff, but it's all free and should easily give the engine another 60 or more Horse Power!! If you stuff oversized pistons into slightly bored out cylinders, that'd get you a combined 100+ hp with everything else included (which I did not do.) But I only did the port and polishing stuff. I do however have the intake manifold riser plate and true cold air intake. All this together with premium and 4 gallons of aviation fuel, I'm pulling my front wheels off the pavement (mostly!!) And I'm not even a mechanic 😇 CHURCH!!!

@BURNOUTS AND DONUTS , I haven't yet began the break down yet. Although, I did R&I the intake to install my 3point8 intake riser. That allowed me to also do the coil packs and iridium spark plugs. This was about a level 3 of 10, and I imagine the whole job (by watching the video here) a level 8 of 10, if I don't mess up the timing chain's. To spring the chain(s), would make this job an 11! ...and please dear Heavenly Father, allow us Not to travel this route😇 It's a do-able job to have to do this at home B&D😎

@@Richoffloudpack thank you Gen guy😇 Now that you have enlightened me, I now take on the prestigious role of becoming "jr." (Gen guy) 🙂😅 So, I have many questions please kind sir. I'd very much appreciate if you can help answer a couple of things...... 1. When overheated, are these engines prone to overall fail after rebuilt? 2. Does the overheating of this engine cause Extreme warping of the block and heads? Or is this unit pretty durable and does not warp too much? 3. Have you ever seen total detonation from overheating of this engine due to overheating? So, I've since driven my car a good distance (100 miles or so) after using a gasket fixer solution, and when I stopped the drive, my car no longer will start. I turned it off and it didn't just stop running, so I ask if it could be a safety feature that is not allowing it to start anymore?
