* NOTE: This job can be done without removing the cowl, although you have to pry the strut bar for bolt clearance. When I made this video I wasn’t smart enough to think or mention that, however this is the “by the book” method. And personally, I’m not the biggest fan of prying on stuff lol ✌️

@@TheOriginalBeeCeeby prying what do you mean forcing out the bolt. ?
@TheOriginalBeeCee
Жыл бұрын
@@missaeldiaz2770 no, prying the strut bar out of the way. So basically you would remove the bolts of the strut mount on the passenger side, then pry the bar up by the corner….which in turn could give you the clearance you need to remove the bolt.

I've watched hundreds of automotive repair videos and can confidently say this was one of the best I've ever watched. You speak well, clearly, very easy to understand, explain what you're doing, give socket sizes and even torque specs (even went as far as showing the numbers in the shop manual!!) I had a clunking sound every time I went into reverse on my '13 It got worse and I'd hear it every time I went into or switched gears. Brought it to a good shop and they couldn't figure out out (blamed something I knew damn well wasn't the issue) Finally ordered the Torque Strut mount as part of a $70 kit that included motor mounts and trans just as a part of preventative maintenance. Watched your video and knocked it out in under 15 minutes due to how good a job you did explaining. Thank you brother. An issue that's been annoying me for 2 years is finally comprehensively solved for $70 and 15 minutes of my time. Wild how simple the solution can be sometimes. A tip for anyone who reads this: you don't need to remove the plastic clip that retains the wiper motor wiring harness. The passenger side of the strut brace only needs to slide towards the rear of the car a few inches so you can leave that attached and won't have any issues. Thanks again BeeCee!!

Yea man you learn new things every day! You can get away without a torque wrench on most bolts (once your accustomed to wrenching on vehicles), but they are good to follow and i always say they dont make torque specs for no reason!

You don't technically "need" a torque wrench if you're experienced wrenching. I just finished this job and didn't realize till the end I didn't have mine. For those with less experience however, a torque wrench is absolutely a great idea!

Tried lifting it by the pan and trans and other areas but, had to hook some chains to the top motor mount holes and lifted it that way to get the torque bolt back in. Your videos are very helpful ! will this fit a 2017 nissan altima sv? i ask becuase the original part is black and is round, the one you installed has a sharp corner. Is it compatable with the original part #11350-3TA0B?
@TheOriginalBeeCee

Yes, the new models in the 5th generation were equipped with the black round styled one. The one outlined in the video would work/fit, but if you look up the part on Rockauto for example, you can buy the same black round styled one as well. www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/nissan,2017,altima,2.5l+l4,3435381,engine,torque+strut+mount,5556

I came here because of vibration, is this the right replacement to do?
@TheOriginalBeeCee
11 күн бұрын
Motor mounts can definitely cause vibration. But….this is only one of 4 mounts. So you need to partner the vibration with a visual inspection. As in, check this upper torque strut mount for damage. You can get an idea of what a damaged/ripped mount looks like from looking at the one in the video. If it’s ripped, you have your answer. But keep in mind there are 4 mounts….this one (torque strut upper mount), torque strut rear lower mount, pass side engine mount, and transmission mount.

When reading the Nissan manual, use the second number in (parentheses). For example it may show a White Wrench diagram with " 105.0 (11,77) " next to it. That means 77 ft-lbs. The white wrench in a black background = ft-lbs, black wrench in a white background = in-lbs. Don't mix those up.

Same here.. annoying vibration when cold start, forward and reverse at very low speed.. once the engine spools up the vibration is gone.. and when the engine is warm, no vibrations. I checked this torque strut and it seems it's kind of broken, but not really broken like the one in the video. As far as the hydraulic mount below. i have no way to check it unless I remove it. Mine is a 2014 model 2.5S. Did you fix yours already? If so, anything you would like to share would be tremendous help!

You might get a mild noise, this car really wasn’t making much noise. I noticed it was separated when inspecting the vehicle. But if you have a noise partnered with visual damage/defect to the mount is how you would help verify if this is indeed bad.
