I did that once on a 1976 450SL..."installing additional evap. case condensate drains"...I let ALL the "smoke" out.

Local hardware store tapered rubber plugs work good also

I have found that the compressor cuts on and off too much with sensor on the core itself, in the box will do just fine.

As long as you’re close and it’s in the evaporator core, it’ll be fine

@@alb12345672 So far they all have been working without any problems but yours may vary but I’m sure it’ll work fine

@@backroadautomotivefarm9785 I replaced my evap core, i would have changed this if I was sure it worked. Some guy on YT replaced the entire thing over this sensor. He said that part don't work. Good to know if I never need it though.
