Simple and Straight to the point👍🏻 I replaced mine smoothly after Watching this vid. Wish more people did straight forward vids like this.

Each year Chevy makes something just a little different! Pretty much the same as my 2012 but on it I had to remove my air conditioner compressor mounting bolt to get the bottom bolt to clear on the line with the double bolts? But great video for your application.

How do you burp the sealed system? Great video just replaced mine following your steps. But now the system is very pressurized after getting up to temp, and the level in the coolant tank never fell. Hoping overnight it’ll burp and the level will fall

After thermostats i just fill the reservoir tank and squeeze the upper hose to try to burp it. Usually I'd use a vacuum filler but that wont work since i dont drain that much coolant out of these when i do the thermostats. What i try to do as-well is fill the overflow on the reservoir when it burps while driving it can suck it out of the overflow and the tank will be full. At the 14:55 mark i show and explain that.

I just got done doing this, let it get to operating temp and now it sets off the engine fan anything more than idle. Let it run with the heater going as well and temp gauge sits right at 210 or just over. Waiting to cool down to see if that helps. Any more insight into something i may have done wrong?

Isn't there a specific way to add coolant to the LML? Fill it, then start it, get it to 2000 rpm for 5 minutes, fill again and another 2000 rpm for 3 minutes, then top it off at idle, then when finished filling bleed the air out?? At least that's what I've been told to do.

Any problems if it didn’t need burp to leave the coolant in the overflow side?

On the overflow side it doesn't need to be burped its vented. The main sealed cooling system does and these usually have some air in them so I fill the overflow a little so when it cools it sucks the coolant from the overflow and makes the cooling system completely full.

Do you NEED to use OM thermostats ?

Absolutely not , but the aftermarket ones don’t last nearly as long and usually prematurely throw a thermostat code.

@@RicardoGarcia-sz9lo personally I’m not fond of any aftermarket thermostat , especially when the pcm monitors it. Motor rad and stant are about the same in my book.

@@drewsshoplife what is the proper way to burp ?
@drewsshoplife

@@RicardoGarcia-sz9lo The most ideal way is to vacuum fill. If that’s not an option I would premix all your coolant or by premix (50/50) concentrate and just dump it in the reservoir and keep the reservoir full while letting it sit for an hour or so. Then start it up with the cap off and the heater on and keep filling it. Once the heater is warm you know you have coolant flow (takes time for the engine to warm up). You can put the cap on and I would hold the rpm’s at 1500rpm for like 15mins. Once the upper hose is hot the thermostats opened and the coolant level will likely drop. Let it cool down (do not open cap when hot, can burn you) and top it off.
