I saw a black 2014 MDX the other day. I was very relieved to see that it looks better in person than it does in pictures. It's not quite as conservative as it would appear, especially compared to the previous generation. I really like the look of the headlights.

OMG..! I used to think how difficult it is for a car maker to build a car with a 0-60 in 6 secs as well a fuel economy close to 30..Acura has finally did it and its a 7-passenger SUV for god-sake !..Acura is the best ...love to own one of these in the coming years

Correct, both the MDX and ZDX were made in Ontario. No rattles via that assembly plant. Now, a new location and new crew. We'll see how it goes.

Because you don't have to take the "key" out of your pocket. It's like leaving your doors unlocked and the key in the ignition all the time. Once you get used to it, it's hard to go back.

Personally, I've always seen SUVs as big station wagons (albeit with camping clothes). Maybe FWD is for consumers who know exactly what they want. Why would a tame driver need SH-AWD in Phoenix? At a lower price point and better MPGs, it makes sense in the sunbelt. Also, MDX is hardly alone offering 2WD.

Imo this car is at the zenith of balancing of compromises and modern automotive execution. Its a low 6 second car but gets 28 mpg, it can haul 7 people but from all of the reviews I've read it handles better than one of the best - the previous mdx, it rides better with reactive dampers yet handles better, it's 275 lighter yet loaded with sound deadener, you get the up high view yet it handles like a car and is not much bigger than a mid size. A little bit of everything in this big box.

Agreed... even the infrequent monsoon rains or occasional ski trip to Snowbowl or Sunrise would never warrant it (IMO). That aside, isn't SH-AWD more for handling than 4-wheeling?

It is the same facility that has been making the Odessey for quite a few years. There is no reason they can't build the MDX as well as any other plant could. By your logic no one should ever buy much of anything since they generally move models around every few years.

A normal wagon is usually enough for most stuff. The only good thing I can see about an SUW is that you have a good allround view, which is a pretty lame excuse to buy such a big car. I mean, it's not like you can't see in a normal car.

Yeah Acura made in Alabama USA but some how Acura decided not to offer to USA market real wood inserts, surround camera viewing system,heated steering wheel,headlight washer as it offers in Europe and Canada so I guess Acura thinks USA market is not very important and it can cut some corners ???

To be fair, I didn't say anything negative about Alabama. Apparently though a sizable amount amount of non-Alabama residents agree with me given the thumbs up. If someone wants to purchase a first generation vehicle being made at a different production facility that is their choice, I would prefer not to.

People in Alabama aren't stupid. They've been building Mercedes' for years here, not to mention Hyundai. Don't knock an entire state based entirely on (very) old and tired stereotypes.
@senorgato70

Clearly you don't live in a southern state or care to look at the global perspective on that type of offering. Tons of people buy SUVs without AWD/4WD because they don't need it, but they need the space of this type of vehicle.

FWD availability in a luxury SUV? I don't think consumers know what they want anymore. If you're really that concerned about fuel economy that you forgo features that make an SUV what it is you're just buying a raised minivan.
