My mini experience wasn't that great so between that crowd I would have to decide between the Soul and the 500L. The street price on the Soul is quite a bit lower than sticker so the "what you can actually get it for" price leans heavily in its favor. That 500L is growing on me though.

To me a big turn off of the Mini is the practicality and price, but at the same time, correct me if I'm wrong, it's also the only vehicle in this comparison to offer AWD, which for people on the east coast is a big plus. So as much as it pains me to say, I'd take the Mini. That being said, at 26K+ I'd rather have a 2014 Subaru Forester 2.5i with a 6-speed Manual which is bigger, safer, less to insure, and would keep over 2k in my wallet. And this was a really good, informative review.

If I had the money, I'd go with the 500L. But I think the Kia Soul gives more bang for the buck and has a far superior warranty. The 500L starts at $21K for a stripped model, while the Soul at $21K is fully loaded with leather and navigation. Plus they're coming out with a new redesign for 2014...supposed to be better handling and higher quality.

Mine has 25K, no problems and my wife loves it as I do. I in my life owned a TR4,TR250,TR6 and a TR7. It drives like the old British cars, tight turns, stiff suspension and fun to drive. He says the 500L is a car with a little more space than a Countryman inside, but it sure doesn't look that way in either looking at the cars side by side in this video, or the other videos showing the inside of the 500L. If nothing else I would say the rear seats of the Countryman have more headroom, since it does not have the sloping roofs all the other cars have. Like the 500L, the Countryman also has a good amount of space for adults in the back seats.

Weird comparison. They're much different cars. Scion and Nissan looks like typical kei-cars, KIA is a crossover, Mini is a SUV and 500L is MPV, even in Trekking bodystyle. They all are B-class but with different style and for different type of people. Really hard to compare them well. Nissan and Scion are very tight. XB materials inside look cheap and tough not very high quality. Even in the video you can see the cracks in places where individual elements should be adjacent to each other. Scion is the most urban and plain designed, looks cheap for me (definitely not for European clients). Probably when you press by your finger on the center console, plastics, in that place will crackled... And the Cube... To be honest I've seen only two Cubes in my life in the city where I live - one was the "show car" in Nissan's salon. But I like how it looks. It's different than the other and in Poland (where I live) it's something atypical, eye-catching, but inside it's too ascetic. The European client is accustomed to soft materials. Gadgets. Lockable and padded storage compartments. And the most - style and form. We like when in the car a lot is happening. Of course, without exaggeration, but there is no denying that the 500L, Soul and Countryman were designed especially to European markets. Countryman on the other hand is expensive but there's nothing special in it. It's like an iPhone for me. Pay for brand but options are the same as in others, in this class. I don't like the design too. Because of BMW it looks too much german not like it should have - original GB Mini. Kia is the most similar to Fiat. They're fancy cars for small families 2+1 or 2+2. They boldly stylized but unlike Nissan they're less excentric. Fiat recently started to produce better finished cars with better components. Less things can break down, and repairs are cheap. Series 500 is more expensive than other cars of this brand (I don't know if American customers can buy others), because it refers to the tradition and history of the Italian automotive industry. In turn, Kia Motors (Kia and Hyundai) aspire to higher class. Hyundai is seen in Europe as a "near-premium", but for now most of its cars are based on the common platforms. Yeah, definitely is hard to compare these cars.

How telling is it, that the only Scion xB press car to get reviewed in months comes from Fiat? The big xB always had potential and still does, but it's an orphan of Toyota. They refuse to advertise it at all, and it's still using the 4-speed from the old RAV4.

I noticed they compared the NEW Fiat to the OLD models. For a fair compairison use the 2014 vehicles. The 2014 Kia Soul has upgraded the interior, new suspension, new sound deafening materials, other reviewers say new model handle betters than 2013... What about Fiat reliability??? Used to be know as Fix It Again Tony and also Fix It All the Time. I will check out the Fiat, had my choice down to the Countryman and Soul, but being open minded, will have to check out the Fiat

The Soul beats the Cube and the XB by a mile when it comes to options, style and warranty. However, it is way overpriced. Why spend 26 to 30 thousand dollars on a brand new fully loaded Soul when you can buy a gently used luxury sedan like a BMW 5 series for 20 thousand? The Cube is super slow and needs a new designer to just make it a little bit cooler, and not so cheap looking. That's Nissan for ya though. The XB is just plain awesome, but needs to offer everything the Soul does and should also have a 6 speed like the Soul. Overall I call a tie between the Soul and the XB, but would still choose the XB because of speed, room and price. All of these cars should offer more colors, dual exhaust, a turbo, hood scoop and lower prices. Their popularity has allowed the manufacturers too over price them all and then get us again on customizing options.
