+Graham Bambeck yes it was, the GTI did 16.2 an I did 15.92, before you say it was too slow consider that it was at 8750 Ft above sea level, it was really colse untill 3th gear

That altitude definitely slows you down, even with forced induction. By no means trying to start a disagreement or argument with either side on this but I've owned both of these cars and still have the MK7 GTI, and I'm surprised at the result. Stock vs. Stock I always got better times on the GTI. Both are great cars and tons of fun. Unfortunately my ST had a load of issues, and wound up as a lemon. I loved driving it though.

What was happening to it? Mines at 235,000 with no issues, only changed oil brakes and serpentine belt

@@SarcasticComments23 Mine had several problems. Mostly electrica (according to Ford) that couldn't be solved. The car could not maintain a steady idle. It would fluctuate from 800rpm to 2200rpm while sitting. It would randomly just die, even while moving. It had a clutch issue within the first 1000 miles. Ford replaced the pressure plate and slave cylinder. What really got me was the multiple times the car would die while sitting at a red light or even between gear changes. I'd press the clutch pedal and rpms would fall as a car normally would, however it would continue to drop rpms below idle range, sputter and then stall. With the clutch pedal pressed, sometimes the throttle wouldn't even respond to keep rpms up to prevent it from stalling. This also made rev matching very difficult. Ford kept claiming it was electrical and there was a TSB out for the wiring harnesses. After having it at 3 different dealers (one of which actually tried to claim my car was modified because Ford doesn't sell a turbo focus.... No joke) for a grand total of 6 visits for the stalling/unsteady idle issue, Ford finally initiated a lemon claim. Someone from Ford corporate came in, drove it and had the stall issue occur while coming to a stop. Since they had supposedly tried to fix it multiple times and couldn't... He just instructed them to buy it back. The car didn't even make it to 4k miles. As an aside, it was not my first or only manual car.

@@fishcars8078 wow you got extremely unlucky. Never heard of those problems on those. I had the same experience with a Toyota Camry and will only buy Ford now but I think I can forgive Toyota and give it another shot. Hopefully you can give Ford another shot some day too but they don’t make these anymore unless you live over seas unfortunately.

@@SarcasticComments23 I still have an RX7 that I've had for some time that is less troublesome than my ST was. There was another fellow who was local to me and was active on the ST forum who also had his bought back. Ironically both of ours were 2014 models in TS color. My GTI has been largely fine even with APR tune and few mild mods. It had a slight leak in the transaxle fixed under warranty and a window switch fixed under warranty. Otherwise still going strong. Not looking forward to replacing it as everything is going EV and I don't care for the MK8 GTI all that much. I'll likely go BMW or Audi when I do go to replace it. Glad yours is holding up well. I enjoyed the ST what time that I had it.

@@fishcars8078 yeah definitely stay away from 2014! 2015+ ST’s are very solid. That’s crazy my girlfriend has a stage one 7.5 GTI manual. Within 5,000 miles the water pump went out “we’ve actually replaced two so far so I’m pretty good at it lol” the heater also stopped working which was an expensive fix, we had to upgrade the clutch since it was slipping pretty bad which was expected from a stage one tune. Also, rain water damage from leaking through the crack of the door which was unfortunate. Currently she’s at 80k miles and all we can do is pray.
