I love the fact these cars (Equus) are selling used for 25-30K now in showroom-new condition. Let someone else take that massive depreciation hit lol. As a big car lover I'm seriously considering one of these, especially since the Town Car is dead. Say what you want, there's still quite a few people like me who want a huge V8 RWD car. Love me boat :D

It's such a good deal it hurts... Hyundai is right at that sweet spot where they're still "just a Hyundai" to most people and the cats camped out on your driveway have better resale value. The wife's loaded, showroom new, 2013 Sonata cost us 13K! I have a mechanical background so I see cars for the sum of their parts, and couldn't care less about the badge on them. If someone's like minded Hyundai's are the best used car value available.

@Rick B: I let you in on a little known secret for "a huge V8 RWD car" lover. Two years ago I bought a 2007 Jaguar XJ8 to use for road trips only. Big 4.2 V8 in it, smooth and powerful, luxurious ride, 0-60 in under 6 seconds. Don't believe the official MPG: 18 city / 27 highway! I get a shocking 35+ mpg hwy, which is for what I bought this car! It can now be found for about 10 grand or less! Here it when I brought it home: drive.google.com/file/d/0B-zVUzlyk61LdnBsSXB2UHAzeTA/view?usp=sharing

This guy should not be reviewing cars when he clearly has a personal bias for the Lexus brand. As I recall, the original Lexus LS400 was a copy of German luxury automobiles. They were cheaper, had more standard features, and were more reliable; so how can he knock Hyundai for following the same game plan? To each his own, but I feel that if someone has the funds and the credit rating to purchase a vehicle like this, then it doesn't matter what his opinion is on the matter.
@chadhaire1711

Lamar Fulton It amazes me the idiots who post comments on a video they obviously did not watch. I made it clear, and I quote "while the Hyundai doesn't have the status of the Lexus, it is a good car". So to say there was a bias is total BS. I dare you to quote one comment I made that said making a copy of the Lexus was a bad game plan. You can't do it because I didn't say it. So it is not a matter of me being a guy who shouldn't be reviewing cars, it is a matter of you being a guy who shouldn't be commenting on videos you obviously did not watch. So when you get bored try watching it again--the ENTIRE video this time--not just a few minutes.

Got my new 2015 Equus 2 weeks ago. Great car and at 45990 with all the rebates and about 34000 less than a Lexus 460. And we all know the Lexus heritage of LS400-430-460, since the 400 was a DIRECT copy of the Mercedes Benz S-class. I'll take the 34K please. And the BMW and S550 Merc (had em' and they LOVE to be in the shop) I'll take the 41K savings also. But if ya wanna drive at autobahn speeds, take corners like a Porsche and you just GOTTA HAVE A STATUS SYMBOL buy a Merc or BMW or Audi at almost twice the price. And I can absolutely assure you that you will be on a first-name basis with your local service manager. (I loved it when my 3 year old BMW 750iL would just shut down in the middle of traffic. Duh, we just can't zero in on the problem, DOH) So much fun. And watch out for the over-engineered S550 Merc...electronic gremlins and such will drive you crazy!

you clearly never owned a Lexus. if you owned a Bimmer and a Merc, then you clearly kind of care about status. if you got a Lexus ES it'll be cheaper than that Equss and still come with some sort of status, (even though that shouldn't matter) and you'll never be in the mechanic shop! and youll always have some type of car to resale. you can't with any Hyundai. just buy an used LS if you really need the size. I own a 15 LS, that I purchased used. and I never have problems with it, and its still worth a ton!

Very bias towards Lexus... I am actually in the market for an upscale sedan. However, because your video did not do diligence in reporting a balanced comparison, I will not use your data in the final analysis. I do have a question: Why did you compare the Lexus LS-460 & the F-Sport and the Hyundai Equus, and not the Equus Ultimate if you knowingly believed that the Lexus was the superior brand from the start?
@chadhaire1711
9 жыл бұрын
There was NO bias for the Lexus and you can't show me how I was-- trying to argue different with the 5 or 6 people out of the 30,000 viewers who say so is pointless--like trying to explain to an Obama voter why he is the most incompetent president ever. You can't win. I tested the Equus model you see as it was the only model that offered me. I stated clearly to anyone who understands English that the Equus was a good buy so I don't see what you are bitching about frankly.... If the Lexus is superior to many BMW & Benz models, and more reliable than any car on the market, why does it aggravate you to hear the Lexus might be better?
@DrOdean1
9 жыл бұрын
chad haire I was not looking for an argument. I am truly looking at both vehicles... My concern was that you did not have a bias towards the Lexus. You gave an excellent report but from my perspective it appeared that you had a bias. However, as you said, you had no bias and I am ok with that. A great friend of mine owns a Lexus and he is very satisfied! I am simply checking with “Experts” in auto comparison to differentiate between what I am looking for in order to gain a final analysis before my purchase. Thank you for your response.
@chadhaire1711

DrOdean1 1. If you want reliability get the Lexus. 2. If you want style and performance get the Mercedes, BMW, or Audi but DO NOT keep it when the warranty runs out or you will be spending a lot of $$$$$ 3. If you want the Equus wait until the end of model year because the dealers will discount big time--not like these are flying off the shelves--but still be warned resale value isn't that hot on Korean cars. 4. If it was me I would buy a used low mileage one owner Lexus LS460 at about 3-4 years old--about 30-40K miles. It would still have factory warranty and probably last longer than the competition at new. $40,000 used is cheaper than $80,000 new.

This looks nothing like a Lexus 460. And people stop saying performance in cars like this. Most people will drive this car to work and daily driving and that's it. Plus people lease these high end cars especially big bmw, Lexus, Benz. Most people with money lease because in a year or to dealers come out with a newer better looking version of cars.

Hyundai Equus vs 'Toyota' Lexus LS-460 How many people were killed by problematic accelerator pedals of Toyota? I heard that Toyota should pay indemnities about 2 billion dollars(paying a settlement and fine). And the Chief Designer of the Hyundai is Christopher Chapman. He's from BMW. Copy Toyota? freaking silly.
@chadhaire1711
9 жыл бұрын
Got your facts all wrong so let's set you straight: 1. Chief designer is from BMW? And your point is...? German cars are problem prone--after 50K miles nothing but repair bill$. You think this is good? 2. Toyota/lexus are the most reliable made--150-200K miles with few repairs-NO German car can do that mileage without $$$$$ bills. This is a fact backed up by statistics & repair records. Lexus is #1 in this area. 3. How many people died due to the accelerator pedal of the Toyota? The fact you can't give me a number speaks for itself. About the same number of people struck by lightening. Entire subject was media hype spread by left wing media and scumbag lawyers looking for $$$$. 4. FACT: Doesn't matter how far the accelerator pedal is pushed--if the brake pedal is pushed THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE!! In fact in this case the car WILL NOT MOVE! Ever do a burnout in a Hemi? Lots of smoke BUT IT DOESN'T MOVE Can't because the brakes are applied! Yet the media wants us to believe a "stuck" pedal caused by a $10 floor mat was killing the population off. LOL LOL! 5. I stated the Equus was a nice car and it is--and a good buy for the money--but the Lexus is better--which is why it costs more. So it is "Hyundai Equus vs Toyota quality Lexus." KEEP THOSE CARDS & LETTERS COMING FOLKS!

TraderKim I don't need to read this--read it long before you did. 1. Read the title again--it doesn't say they agreed to the fine because they were guilty--said they agreed to STOP THE PROBE. ALL COMPANIES agree to pay fines as it is cheaper than fighting in court. So Eric Holder--the most corrupt AG in 100 years--in the most corrupt administration in 100 years--gets the fee and Toyota gets Holder off their back. It's the old Federal govt. extortion racket. 2. The incident that started it all--the Highway Patrolman who in 2009 had a "runaway Lexus" that killed him & his wife was total BULLSHIT. This was a trained cop who KNEW he could stop the car by either slamming the tranny in a lower gear or shutting off the ignition. He had time to do both as he has time to call 911 (like he thought the 911 operator could stop the car? LOL). Yet he did not-driving for miles and crashing the car. All the insiders know this was a suicide--an OBVIOUS one. And before this there were no complaints about sticky pedals--now this hits the media and hundreds of Toyota owners suddenly "discover" they have a problem (and discover they can sue for $$$). Get real! 3. I take it from your comments you are a member of the "under 25" club, and like most in your age group base your thoughts on what you read in the lamestream media, Govt funded schools, or what comes from the 3 stooges (Holder, Biden, Obama) in the white House rather than real world experience. So here is a real world assignment for you: Take your car on the freeway (you DO have a car don't you?), take it to 60 mph, then slam on the gas pedal and brake at the same time. Then tell us what happened (hint--the car won't "accelerate!" LOL!). Keep those cards & letters coming folks!!
@HappinessAndLuck

Quotation from article 'Early on, Toyota suggested that driver error was to blame, saying that some people may have hit the gas when they meant to hit the brake. Even after issuing recalls to address problematic floor mats that in some cases pinned down accelerators, the company hid a flawed gas pedal design that it knew did the same thing, according to documents accompanying the agreement.' 'The company assured the public that the “root cause” of unintended acceleration had been addressed by the recall, blaming floor mats that accidentally trapped the depressed gas pedals of cars and trucks. But Toyota knew that models it had not recalled had similar floor-mat problems, the agreement said. Also, the company hid from federal regulators a second cause of unintended acceleration in its vehicles: a sticky gas pedal. The problem was caused by plastic material inside the pedal that could cause the accelerator to become stuck in a partially depressed position. The pedals were installed in several models, including the Camry, the Matrix, the Corolla and the Avalon.'

TraderKim It appears you have a problem understanding English so I will say it one more time. 1. Take a car out, drive at freeway speeds, stomp on the gas pedal and brake at the same time and tell us what happened. Did you do this? You obviously did not. I am suspecting you are not old enough to drive anyway. Are you? Then what is stopping you? Well? 2. I do not need quotes from magazine articles you have read from the mainstream media who never gets it right. I explained why earlier but you don't get it for some reason. If you respond with any more of this media crap I will remove it from my page. . 3. Go back to # 1, read it again, do it, then tell us what happened. If you can't or don't, then we are done here---go to another web page. Trolls are not welcome here.

HYUNDAI's AND KIA's ARE CRAPPY CARS! I'm a technician at a Hyundai dealer in New Jersey and I can tell you guys from personal experience that Hyundai's and Kia's (Hyundai owns Kia) are both poorly made cars. To save money, Hyundai and Kia use cheap metal that rust almost immediately off the showroom floor. The rims that Hyundail and Kia use are made out of cheap, soft aluminum that bends on even the smallest of pot holes. The engines are not very well tuned from the factory and are blowing up all over the place. I can not tell you how many engines I've had to replace in the last year. They also have at least three recalls a month over the dumbest things. And finally the interior may look nice but behind the dashboard are cheap components that I'm always having to replace.

chad haire Well, I don't think they're gonna die anytime soon.. although I haven't researched either, so I can't confirm that.. I will input that we can't forget it's a Japanese brand that's been around for decades, and they're pretty reliable. The Lancer models including the Evolution are loved by many as well as rebadged by other companies like the Malaysian Proton. Galant is sold in many countries including the U.S., and is also loved by many with families. Today, Mitsubishi does rebadge their Dignity/Proudia using the Nissan Fuga/Cima, but that doesn't mean that they can't or won't come up with their own luxury sedan variant. Remember that Mitsubishi makes great engines and can do much better than they are doing as is, especially with Subaru being their big competitor.

chad haire They aren't reliable and their designs are unattractive. Mitsubishi is what they aren't: That's the difference. The Pontiac Vibe used the same 1.8ℓ 4 cyl. engine as a Toyota Corolla: Toyota sold GM their engines. Why? GM probably couldn't come up with a good, reliable and economical 4 Cyl. Engine for that specific car at the time. This is why Saturn and Oldsmobile went out of business, especially since the demand for them was low. GM really only makes cars.. Mitsubishi produces Electronics and Appliances all over the world, further expanding their name as a reliable brand name. In other words, if someone purchases a Mitsubishi TV, they just might be persuaded to buy a Mitsubishi automobile. Think about it: It's all about strategy, demand, and quality foremost.

the world highly appreciates Korean cars and Korean technology. Wake up, so that Japan is gradually collapsing, from technology monuments such as Sanyo, Toshiba, Pana, Sony. . . every year, they have to cling to government bailouts and sell themselves to foreign countries like Sanyo and Toshiba recently prepared to declare bankruptcy, do not delusion anymore, do not live in the past, too The past is to connect the future for the future, not for the past. Let's see in the 750 million price range in Vietnam is there any car than Kia Cerato? Compare Santafe and Fortune - a fully equipped luxury car and a car with permanent airbags. Except for those who buy cars for resale, I do not want to say, but those who buy cars to serve themselves, protect family life, have a wise choice. When you buy a Japanese car, you're actually spending money say, rather than car buyers to serve themselves, protect life, then the family can choose it wisely. When buying a car, it is actually the date you are to spend money to buy brands rather than buying a car service itself. What it holds is the brand rather than quality. I saw a dozen years santafe run ferry ferry still see damage anything? In the near future, when ready to purchase a car service itself, if less money is right I would first think of the other, Hyundai, little more money I would think of America as the Ford car

Garbage vehicle. So unreliable it's not even funny. On the Equus forums & FB pages, you find owners regretting ever purchasing this lemon when their air suspensions fail with vehicles that barely have 75k miles on them, and their repair bill averages $1500.00 PER WHEEL for ORIGINAL Hyundai air suspension parts (not talking about the cheap Chinese ones that break down even faster but that most people buy because they can't afford the original parts). Then you have the issue of the Pre-Collision and other safety systems not working. Again, on Equus forums & FB pages you have owners complaining how their Equus didn't warn them of an impending crash, didn't take evasive maneuvers as Hyundai says it will, and even air bags that didn't deploy. Aside from those serious issues that could kill you..you have seats that hurt your back after 10 minutes of sitting. Cheap and fake looking leather, wood applique, and plastic controls. And a ride that felt nervous and jittery..instead of smooth and luxurious as advertised. Save your money and buy something that is really luxurious and not this POS. It's no wonder Hyundai killed it. Korean junk at it's finest. Too bad some people have no idea what real luxury is so they think this POS is "quality"..lol. A sucker really is born every minute. 🙄
