Drove one of these back to back against ML, X5, and RX and the Touareg was easily my favorite. Handles very well on road yet is very capable off road. This car deserves more sales, if people could look past the badge they would be very impressed.

Bought a new 2014 a couple years ago and I went from love... to hate... to love again. After a week of driving, it was littered with squeaks and rattles. I took it back to the dealership about 10 times... and they obliged 10 times. Believe me, I was a real pain in their butts... but... they got it squeak free! And the love I have for my Touareg Tdi is beyond my ability to describe. I tow a camper across the country with it every year getting a rediculous 8.5L/100kms. It's handling is unlike any vehicle I've ever driven. Amazingly, one of the easies vehicles to change your own oil in using an oil change extraction pump. I mean you don't have to get under the vehicle and you never get dirty... unbelievable. Best.Car.Ever. I love it.

Thanks guys! Been following your channels for a long time. This is an older video, but it helped me make a decision to buy a 2012 Touareg TDi that was part of the buy back program for the 3.0 diesel. VW is sending the 2011/2012 3.0 diesel back to the marketplace, and offering an extended 4 year emission warranty. Reading the warranty, it seems to me it’s a full powertrain warranty for 4 years. Maybe others like me can put this on the gotta try it again list. I couldn’t afford a new one at $50k, so this is a game changing offer by VW. Your Real World driving tests are incredibly valuable. Many thanks again.

Always loved this car..just too darned 'spensive even tho it's less expensive than the first generation models that were stuffed to the gills with everything..air suspension, 10-cylinder engines, "gods own torque curve".. the cost of ownership would make a fellow honest to goodness seriously contemplate pimping out his wife and female progeny to feed this beast. Tires alone were crazy expensive and needed changing with higher frequency because of wear of the heavy and powerful vehicle. Service intervals and costs for out of warranty repairs would tempt you to sell organs on the black market..but darn if the car was awesome..just soooo expensive to procure and keep fed..

Maybe if VW were to view this video, they would see the need for a mild off road "Town & Country" type tire that would be better suited for OFF ROAD use.. As for myself, the price is a little steep for my budget, the Jeep Wrangler would be more my choice for OFF ROAD & they too are coming with a V6 Turbo Diesel..! Depends on use if your doing more serious off roaring yes but if not than no. While Jeep is a subsidiary of Fiat Auto Group the Touareg is a lot better with driving since VW Group has many high brands such as Audi, Bentley, Ducati, Porsche, Bugatti, and Lamborghini. All of the AWD systems in the group are just renamed versions of the Quattro system designed by Audi so it loves the roads a lot better than a Jeep.

It depends on which Cherokee you're talking about Models up to '05 were great off-road then they started getting lower and lower getting to today where the Cherokee is more or less a vehicle with pretty good road manners but not so good off-road as it's previous generations. Since this video was made for the Tuareg though I'd rather have a new Cherokee than a Tuareg. Plus for the price of a Tuareg I'd probably be able to get a fast car and an off-roader so I'd have the best of both worlds.

I should say I love Touareg TDI. But its reliability record is not good. I do not repeat the inaccurate statement that "German cars are not reliable". VW beats mainstream cars in so many different aspects, including the fun and comfort driving experience. I know that VW has several products with good reliability records and I own two of them (2009 Jetta and 2011 Tiguan). If they improve the reliability of Touareg as well, then people like me would definitely consider buying one.
